It’s not that they actually want elderly people to go back to work, it’s that they only want to deny pension payment to the elderly for as long as they possibly can. People often assume that if the government refuses to hand out pension payment, it will create or at least facilitate opportunities so the elderly can work to support themselves. It won’t. The government doesn’t really care that the elderly could suffer abject poverty or even starve without any income, the same way it didn’t care that its people could suffer great financial losses when it smashed several buzzing industries with zero warning. What the government is basically saying to its people, is that although they face termination from work as soon as they turn 35, they will not receive a single cent of support until they are well into their 60s, and that they’d better find a way to stay alive until then, all by themselves, while still shouldering the majority of the government’s own spending :)

Younger generation? So many 65+ are still working and need to work as long as they can. The younger are more likely being affected by the delaying in moving up the job ladder.
@corroded2 ай бұрын
@@bburn1793 thing is though you don't pay for your own retirement, the younger generations do. So not only is it expensive to retire in the first place but those replacing you, pay for you. Given birth rates going down in a lot of countries, these countries will need to increase tax revenue to pay for the aging population. Younger generations will be picking up the tab for those retirement payments which they may get less of themselves. Personally I'm planning on the state pension not existing in a meaningful way by the time I retire, probably 10 years after my parents did, at a higher tax burden.
@bburn17932 ай бұрын
@@corroded i hear seniors get angry when told they didn't pay, since $ was deducted for years. Probably truth in both, they paid and young will pay.
