The problem is that they are in very close proximity to devices that ARE on the Internet including cellular phones, mobile towers, tablets, wireless access points, personal laptops, cars and trucks with Internet connected music players and navigation systems, personal Watches with Internet access, even glucose monitoring devices with Internet Access, etc. It is from THOSE "Internet of Things" devices that these kinds of hacks spreads by just ONE person not following the company policy about electronic devices or getting tricked by a fake email from their boss that ONE time causing something to make that tiny last hop and spread from the Internet connected device over to a completely isolated network.
