I don’t think your summary of the Russian battle plan is correct. The Ukrainian army had been in continuous combat for 8 years. In that time they have also been training extensively with NATO. You could say, the Ukrainian military is the model of what you face if you fight NATO? Certainly the war that the are fighting now is nothing any NATO country has fought since WWII, bombing poor countries for 78 days or 40 days and mopping up later doesn’t count. Also, with the concentration of all the better units (the cream of the crop) on the Donbass contact line, and well dug in, would not give any serious military planners an idea of a push over. So, Syrian tactics, isolating the capital, and the various Ukrainian armies around the country was always the plan. Isolate, deny supplies and RE-enforcements allows the Russian military to systematically destroy Ukrainian army units. We know this is a serious Russian operation as they seem to be about to conduct a change over of units in Ukraine with fresh units from Russia. If it all goes as planned then this will be a great feat and show the professionalism of the Russians at all levels, militarily and politically.

If the war between US and Russia in Europe actually happens, I suspect Russians wont be using kid-gloves. For at least 8 years US and EU pumped Ukraine with weapons, training and closed their eyes on neo nazi movement. Which grew out of control in to full on Nazis. People in Russia know that, unlike the West they saw it all for years. There will be little remorse to EU and US for creating conditions for this far. What's going on now is nothing by comparison what Russians will do for example to Poland. They'll level anything that has or had US flag on it. Anything that has US infrastructure will cease to exist. And I'm sure all those objects and command posts in US targeted. And if some idiot in US decides to use nuclear weapons, well Putin did say ones : " ANY nuclear on Russian soil, and Russia will retaliate by targeting evey command posts in US". There is no chance to destroy all Russian nuclear missile capabilities, so it's far from empty threat. At this point the only way Russia will attack any NATO country, if it posses imidiate threat. Like US nuclear bombers flying within 50 km of Crimea borders. In current geopolitical climate, that is provacation. Also something tells me Russians by far not using even half of their capabilities in Ukraine, there is no need, they have time. Humanitarian issues not withstanding but it seems why Russian took time from attacking to sort that out. I'd say in next week or so, there will be a big push. I noticed a lot of front line units in Russian forces have built in cameras. Something tells me soon internet will be flooded with mass of videos from Ukraine. Already now there are photos and videos of nazi battalion, torture chambers, nazi flags and all that, soon I guess will see much more.

There is no violation of UN charter. Two days before Russian actions, Putin recognised the Donbas as independent nations and annouced a formal protection for this region. Instead of ceasing the bombing, the Ukrainian army intensified its attacks, and that gave the Russians Casus belli in defence of its protectorate state. This is how the NATO strategy of Kosovo was adopted for Donbas. Except that Donbas had declared indepedece since 2014. Kosovo was made up to justify a war. Donbas is 70-80% Russian, justifying the protection. Kosovo had minor Americans or NATO ethinicities. There were 15k dead in Donbas and more than 50k displaced in an 8 year war, Kosovo was a fabricated PR piece against the largest socialist block that didnt get nukes.

And unilaterally recognizing an independent state as independent isn't a violation of the UN charter?
@the1onlynoob2 жыл бұрын
@@maximepirard6171 It's not, after NATO did the same thing to Kosovo, they pushed it to the international court of justice and the ICJ said the capacity to be legitimately found independent is based on a finding of fact not of law. As in, what matters is the opinion in Donbas, not the Ukrainian constitution. Putin adopted the strategy for Ukraine, after NATO invented this for the first time against Yugoslavia that actually destroyed it. The ICJ consolidated the NATO strategy in an advisory ruling after 36 countries made submissions.

The language of the UN charter says something about "imminent danger". Obviously we are getting our legal team out of the legal team closet to define what "imminent" danger can mean. This is the whole story. This is the whole game. Do we pretend that the war started last month or do we consider every little detail. It might be a good idea to consider every little detail. You missed talking about the troop build up on the border of the Donbass. The invasion seems a classic pincer to surround the Donbass while at the same time cutting off the cities of Kyiv and Kharkov to prevent them from providing troops and supplies to the divisions in the Donbass. Given the actions of the Ukraine military in the Donbass deliberately targeting the civilians there rather than focusing on Russian troops one needs to speculate whether a Ukrainian 'cleansing' operation on its citizens in Donbass was imminent and it was this, as well as the fruitless NATO negotiations that was the trigger for the invasion.

Seems disingenuous to go on about what the U.S. said vs. what Russia said BEFORE all the subsequent events took place. Clearly, the U.S. knew what they were planning on rolling out when they made their statements, whereas Russia was not privy to the full range of what our leaders were planning. The trigger was when Russia found out that Ukraine was about to massively assault the SE region - and moved to prevent the slaughter.
@transsylvanian91002 жыл бұрын
The US warned about a "Russian invasion" because they knew Ukraine was going to launch an all out assault on Donbass with NATO weaponry and NATO trained troops. When this happened they knew Russia would have no choice but to intervene to protect those breakaway republics. At this point the US could then portray this Russian intervention as an "invasion of Ukraine" thus justifying sanctions and all out economic war. On the military front, if Russia restricted its operations to Donbass it would find itself bottled up in this small region fighting a neverending grinding conflict against a Ukrainian army that had 8 years to entrench themselves and which would receive endless supplies from the west to keep this going. All of this would be happening on Donbass soil which would mean people living there would continue to be caught in the crossfire and the shelling, ultimately forcing a mass exodus to Russia depopulating the Donbass region. Clearly all of this did not happen the way the US was expecting. Instead of letting the US and their Ukrainian puppets strike first and dictate the battlefield, Russia took the initiative, launched feint attacks at Kiev and other major cities, (semi-)encircling them in order to pin down a significant number of troops there, which then enabled them to cut off the main bulk of Ukraine's army in Donbass, the large concentration of forces there which had been preparing to launch the aforementioned assault. They have struck Ukraine's supply lines deep inside enemy territory, disabling bases, military installations, air fields, air defenses, ammo depots, fuel depots, etc. This has resulted in depriving the Ukrainian forces entrenched in Donbass of supplies and support and slowly starving them out while cutting off the ability for them to retreat or be reinforced. Meanwhile the land bridge to Crimea was secured first by the peaceful takeover of Kherson, and now finishing with the (unfortunately very destructive) cleansing of Mariupol of the large Azov contingent which had taken that city hostage. Now Russia fully controls that coastline and can freely and safely maneuver troops all along southern Ukraine. The problem with this channel's analysis is that a) they take western media claims about the military situation on the ground at face value, b) they believe the western narrative about Russia's aims and schedule in Ukraine, and c) they do not understand military strategy and the ways in which strategic necessity dictated Russia's course of action. Finally, worst of all they ignore the 8 year long war in Donbass and Ukraine's clearly hostile intentions there.
@kubhlaikhan20152 жыл бұрын
I have a feeling they found out a few other things as well. The full story will take time to come out but it only affects the timing, not the principle. Ukraine was a rogue genocidal state, founded in an illegal secession from the USSR backed then looted by NATO and with no legitimate borders. Russia only needs to explain why they waited so long to act, not why they acted.
