What I loved was that every Chinese girl got to show off (I only remember Asac, Nastia and Shawn from the US team). Li Shanshan had the most advanced beam routine seen at the competition, and wowed in the team final, Yang Yilin was the all-around star, Deng Linlin's perfect vault amazed, Jiang Yuyuan's floor made the crowd fall in love with her, He Kexin's bars stole the show every time they were performed. And Cheng Fei? Simply amazing.

I still believe that they were underage but I have to give them credit for how amazing they did. They did some incredible stunts for girls who were under the age of sixteen. Their tricks were out of this world.

Mouad Abdi yes kexin is great of course, but they had the same start value and yilin was cleaner and stuck her dismount whereas kexin took a step so how can she score higher? Liukin wasn't as good as yilin either as her legs are all over the place in her dismount. Yilin should've at least got silver but I personally think she should've won.

I agree about taking 2nd place , because He kexin with her routine , no one could deny that she deserves to win , without that it would be a big injustice , her move , so unique :) , It was designated as one of the hardest moves , routines ever :)

karenKristal He Kexin had a more risky routine. But Yulin had the best form of the competition on bars. Both Chinese girls were better than Nastia on bars. So Nastia should NOT have been upset that He Kexin beat her. She's lucky that they scored her above Yulin..

Each one of them was the best in certain aspects, and you're right, Deng Linlin was fantastic...but Cheng Fei was the team's top scoring gymnast, not to mention she's the most accomplished Chinese female gymnast in history. And then there's Yang Yilin, who got a bronze in both the AA and UB finals, but some would argue that she should've won gold in those events. So it's a hard question, but since you're asking ME, I say Cheng Fei :)

DOUBTERS: Fan Ye, a former Chinese gymnast and world champion, says that their small bodies and "little girl" looks are because their food was severely rationed until they joined the national team . They weren't even allowed to eat meat and RICE growing up, and are also under intense pressure and training, so it's not very surprising they ended up pint-sized. It's a shame that a few of these girls didn't get into the team this year and China came fourth. Still America did amazingly well to come gold, but you could tell the pain in the Russian girls eyes at being so close to gold, but coming sliver.

@bernardmvella The USA also had two injured girls. Memmel competed on bars with a broken foot. Samantha Peszek was supposed to compete in ALL events like Johnson but injured her ankle severely during qualifying. Everyone knows the controversies surrounding the Chinese Women's Team. Kexin competed but here passport used at a previous event said she was born in 1994 which would make her 14 in 2008. Then their is Fei who fell on her vault, but won bronze? Are you kidding me?

There was legitimate evidence that actually prompted a serious investigation by the IOC. China's bronze medals from the 2000 games were taken because one member of the team was underage and it came out in 2010.

@bernardmvella The problem with gymnastics is that it uses coaches that aren't involved in gymnastics, which mean they don't know shit about gymnastics, because they come from countries who don't have even decent gymnastics competitions. In gymnastics the judges should be American, Chinese, Japanese, Romanian, and Russian. Even British and German wouldn't be bad either.

And what did the investigation uncover? You missed the part where they were cleared. Dong Fangxiao was similarly investigated, and was found to be underage. The 1999 worlds bronze was also taken away because she was on that team too.

Which by the way the MLB has a huge amount of Latin American players in it and is the second sport in America with the largest amount of foreign players next to the NHL. 99% of NFL players are AMERICAN. 1% are Canadian. Call Ripken, Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Derek Jeter, etc didn't/don't use steroids.

China lives an isolated lifestyle and forces their athletes into their sports when their young. USA, Canada, Australia, UK, etc don't live an isolated lifestyle. That's why people know who Michael Phelps, Sidney Crosby, Emon Sullivan, and David Beckham are. The only reason anyone knew who Yang Wei was, was because he plays in the NBA.

@ussr2581990 99% of athletes don't get away with using steroids today. 99% of substances are caught with today's technology. Not to mention USA athletes like Phelps are tested before and after each event. He even volunteers to be tested randomly. Also Bulgaria has the most amount of athletes that have have medals stripped from them for steroid usage (because of the sport of Wrestling and weight lifting).
