If Concordia is supposedly conducting researches on international affairs objectively, I question if Concordia should invite speakers from countries participating in the BRI instead of from one country which is not part of the BRI program and at the same time has openly requested the world to contain China.

Just to remember that the copper mine "Las Bambas" in Peru, which is mentioned by the Dr, was initially owned by Xtrata and developed by this company, and then sold to MMG company (China owners), so teh detail of the transportation was developed by xtrata. Obviously, it was not mentioned, because xtrata is an occidental company, which by far are environmental complaints (sarcasm). On the other hand, just to remember what was done in another copper mine in Peru called La Oroya, by occidental companies, or what is being done in the south of Peru for example in the Ilo copper corporation with the emissions of SO2.

100% true. Mining "magically" becomes a polluting danger when the business, planned and initiated by a Swiss company, is acquired by Chinese capital. The only problem the USA has in improving its influence in the region is to stop taking us for idiots.

It is either the country move forward to progress with environmental issue or they can stay backwards with less environmental issue. The people of the individual country must decide...There no two way about it. Look at US the major polluter of the world with their War machine. Imagine how much fuel being used to power their heavy weight fighting machine, warship, fighter jets, bombers, cargo jet, surveillance jet, Tanks, howitzer, hummers. I am an African, just as the first guest started speaking, I was already suspicious, in the middle of the talk as the other speaker came in, I was vindicated. I was also suspicious about the roles they either play or may have played in the USG, including Defense. This is propaganda at its best, this is aimed at discrediting China to its core. It looks like the panelists have been deliberately sent to undermine Chinese influence (which is positive) to the world. Africa, and I come from a country that has seen what the belt and road initiative looks like, unlike these Americans, is something that we have needed, and China is the only economic partner that will be able to deliver this. The Chinese do not force countries to participate, nor do they partner on conditions, nope. I could spoken so much, in summary, the west has lost the platform in the global south, countries and citizens have an alternative to the dictates, imperialism, and conditions that are always imposed. We do not need partners that look at us as worthless. China comes on the table as an equal partner, respects the value and cultures of their partners, and bring visible and useful social economic development. This panel has but one thing to do, go back and learn about how the BRI really works, this is substandard and cheap talk. The world has moved on and we now appreciate a multipolar world. Where are the South Americans and Chinese in this discussion?

In South America we do not exist friend. For the United States, there is only Canada and many vassals. Being so close, many politicians are pro-American, although I think this is more out of fear that the United States will send its army or use the CIA for a coup in any country installing another dictatorship.
