The why I keep asking is why hasn't Taiwan already declared their independence? They have every right to be independent and it should not matter what country decides not to acknowledge that and shame on the US for holding them back from doing that! Really when you get right down to it they should not have to declared their independence! They have NEVER been part of China and have ALWAYS governed themselves and have every right to be an independent country PERIOD!

You're getting China confused with the CCP. Tiwan is the legitimate government of China, the mainland is still occupied by the CCP rebels.

@@luhental: I feel that Xi Jinping’s world view is locked in by his commitment to Maoist ideology. And add to this the fact that he is surrounded by yes men. I think that because of his distortion of reality, he like Hitler and the Japanese in WW2 feels he cannot fail, and feels compelled to go forward with his plans regardless of the outcome. There’s no compromise. This all or nothing attitude is the most scary aspect of this whole situation! And it doesn’t help that the Biden administration has been slow on the draw to realize this. There’s no compromising with Xi because he believes his own crap.

People think that US is unbeatable but at some point in time they will be, like all empires, they come and go and eventually something else will replace them as the leading superpower capable of invading other countries without the threat of stopping them.

Is Taiwan building speedboat drones like the ones used by Ukraine to destroy the Russian fleet in the Black Sea. If they built 1000 of those what would that do to a Chinese invasion? Why not underwater autonomous drone torpedoes? Do the Taiwanese know anything about electronics and computing? LOL

@@dcc70 Taiwan is in a different strategic position than Ukraine. The Chinese would have to send ships across the strait. They could program autonomous drones to attack anything that floats above a certain size. It could raise an antenna once every night to receive instructions. How much could an AI determine about a ship based on acoustics?

We need mathematicians. If the PLA lose let's say 100k soldiers in just couple of encounter, which isn't far fetch since those PLA doesn't have experience in a real combat scenario, they're in a medieval fight with India for sometime and the last time they had a real military encounter is when they guard a UN outpost which they ultimately need help from the US. what's the impact of that on their population? I mean are we seeing a drastic population decline since most of their population doesn't want to have kids and are aging significantly faster because of their idiotic one child policy.

It's easy to understand: There is no country named Taiwan in the world. The regime on the island Taiwan is the Republic of China, whose current constitution still claims the whole China as its territory.
