China’s 'leverage on Russia' could help resolve war in Ukraine

“They have leverage on Russia the rest of us don’t necessarily have and they also have a big stake in Ukraine.”
China could prove a significant player in Putin’s war on Ukraine, but it must be held to account for its growing powers after hacking into the UK electoral register.

The war between Russia and Ukraine benefits China on many levels. 1). It depletes munitions held by the West. 2). It creates division in Western allies over the degree of response the West applies. 3). Takes the focus of the West away from Philippines / Taiwan S. China Sea. 4). Increases China’s leverage over Russia. 5). Diverts attention from their economic issues which is a train wreck occurring in slow motion. As to the electrical register, they want this data to track Chinese dissidents.

China and Russia are just the same old Communist allies and Putin is a loyal old school Communist. The west's policy on economic sell out to China and aggressive conventional warfare strategy on Russia's borders is an oxymoron which is destabilising the whole Cold War order which kept the peace over decades and maintained western lifestyles and freedoms. As for Chinese products substandard low quality knock offs pretending western quality, to provide the cash needed for the Chinese military budget.

Anyone who thinks you can have true diplomatic relations with China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea need to have their head read. Honestly we should stop trying to deal with these dictators, like we can change their mindset. They should be isolated from the rest of the world stop doing business with these countries, we the west have all the resources we need to function quite well without them. As for Ukraine anything less than Russia returning all of Ukraine back to them is a no go situation, we should not be talking about anything less than that.

It was us who failed diplomatically regarding Ukraine. European leaders, the EU and America. And most importantly of all, Ukraine. The diplomacy was all played out publicly. It was very interesting to watch. I have an interest in geopolitics and was watching it daily. It was Putin's choice to invade. But the invasion could have been easily avoided. Even permanently. Our diplomats and politicians never take responsibility for their failures. It was us who derided, ridiculed, ignored, insulted, threatened, belittled... Russia. And when they threw down red lines we stepped straight over them with astonishing arrogance. Game on.

A shop near me, called Home Bargains, is regularly, sometimes guiltily, used by many of us around here ..for washing powder, coal, loo brushes, toiletries, biscuits, stationery, children's clothes ...because it is fantastic value. Bullies suffer from an internal insecurity which cannot be resolved by external conditions. They try to control everything and everyone because they believe that will make them feel secure. However, no amount of external control can resolve the internal insecurity. With countries this can operate both at the personal or leadership level, and through the leaders to the country's behavior as a whole. The leaders transmit this feeling of insecurity throughout the government and it becomes a unshakeable country level neurosis. China's highest leaders feel insecure, and therefore the country behaves in an insecure manner. The insecurity is internal and cannot be resolved by negotiation or diplomacy.
@ticthak

That insecurity is not unjustified, EVERY major country is at war(if only in the corporate, non-nationalist economic sense) with EVERY other country, as well as internally,it's the nature of capitalism as an operational philosophy and practice, or any other Darwinian social mechanism. @@XStreet1985 exactly his point. The West is dumb enough to pick a totally avoidable fight with Russia and then cry to other countries for help when it's losing. They should have gone the diplomatic route from day 1. We all have to live on this planet and now we have to suffer knock on effects because of your stupidity.

What Chinese leverage on Russia,they are two independent Nations engaged in mutually beneficial trade for their people and future of both countries. In fact, they face similar challenges and have exactly the same enemies. So it's in both nations interests to strengthen their existing trade level and expand this in all strategic areas. And it's equally in Africa's interest that Russia successds among many others.

China is dependent on the Global economy for growth given its current demise with its internal housing building crisis. China’s intentions are not honourable and there is a very high probability of China of exercising its dominance over its weaker neighbours. Common sense would say this is not the best time to invest in China.

Western societies spread capitalism around the globe. Now they want to complain of unfair practices. The same thing people providing labor to corporations have been complaining about for decades. The solution was to use the financial system to shift control back to western nations. Now let me explain in simple terms why the western strategy will fail. You can barter goods for goods you cannot barter fiat for goods. Maybe for the short term but eventually you will be left holding the useless paper and the artificial wealth that was achieved through it's inheritance. The moment you place restrictions on trade you risk the chance of voiding the trade. Keep this fresh in your minds. Those offering the goods have the value in their hands, those offering fiat are undermining the value of their fiat by implementing restrictions. If your means of exchange becomes less valuable to me as a producer than the added cost will be felt by the issuer of the fiat. Sadly liberals have undermined the value of industrial production and shifted focus to banking and monetary manipulation. War in Ukraine is an excellent example, plenty of money to be thrown at Ukraine but very limited goods needed to supply Ukraine. The balance of producers and consumers has been destroyed by government intervention. Government stimulus to the favorable and sanctions to those unfavorable. In simple terms a fraudulent banking and monetary system fueling consumers to profit the producers. Corporate offshoring of labor cost has created a monopoly over local competition. If the western countries actually wanted to solve their problems they would first have to recognize their problems originate at home and not in China or Russia.

Just because the problems originate in "Western" corporate greed doesn't mean these same motives don't drive EVERYONE'S agenda. Our problems are certainly capitalized on by Putain and the CCP...along with any other power-seeking or -wielding party in the world.

Kyiv in three days, right? If Russia can't threaten Kharkov two years into the war then something has gone very wrong. Odessa? Russia got kicked out of Kherson. Considering how things are lined up now, it's hard to see how this can be viewed as a Russian victory either when one considers all the losses Russia will face from this war. All the people who left Russia forever, the loss of foreign investment, the material costs to the Russian military, the political isolation, the cost of treating all these injured soldiers and families without fathers. It's a catastrophe.
