Those bases have been there for a very long time, and many of them were used in WWI and WWII. Some of them even to support China in WWII. Spices that lasts for years is a whole different thing but fish, fruit, meat and so on that spoils is draining one area to feed another area... Its not sustainable and we humans need to restrict ourselves at least in numbers to the local areas then if the restriction should be 1000km or 5000km I can't say but 95% should be withing 500km not from the other side of the planet except if its a product with very long spoilage time.

@amadeuz819 The reason why the US economy is so much bigger than the rest of the world is because it has the biggest railroad in the world(China just surpassed it this year). The 2nd largest number of ports in the world(behind China). As well as the most amount of dams and nuclear energy available for producing energy than any other country in history(China is quickly catching up). If you don't understand the importance of advanced infrastructure on how it plays a role in the prosperity and wealth of a nation you will never be able to create a sustainable society in today's world. The faster you can move goods through your nation and into people's hands the more rich you become. Look at Japan, 5 trillion dollar economy because of the Shinkansen high speed rail network that improves vertical integration of logistics in Japan. China surpassed this 8 years ago.

When China builds a naval base, the west beats the war drums. When the US add one more naval base to the existing 800 globally, western experts said it is all good, that it is to maintain "rule-based order". US rules I presume? The Chancay mega=port on Peru took 2.5 years and cost $5.3 Billions. Now if it is the US, or God forbid the UK to build something like that, I imagine it would cost two or three times as much, and probably 10 years to complete. Whether you like China or not, you have to give it to them for the efficiency and dynamics. Ohh....before I forget, a US general claims the port is a "dual purpose" port that also serves as a spying base !!! That is a real shock to us that Americans came to such a conclusion already 😃

The biggest difference between China and the western countries is not their different political systems but rather their different economic models that they use in order to live and to prosper. In order to live and to prosper, the economic model that China uses is based on the hard work and ingenuity of its people, and on trade and peaceful cooperation with other countries. By using this model, China not only lives and prospers but it also helps other countries to live and to prosper. The ongoing Belt and Road Initiative launched by China in 2013 is a Chinese peaceful collaboration project with other countries. Thanks to this project, China has helped more than one hundred countries to build various infrastructure projects such as roads, railways, sea and air ports, power plants, etc. These projects have given a boost to the economies of these countries by increasing their GDPs and by improving the quality of life of the populations of these countries. By contrast, in order to live and to prosper, the economic model that the western countries use (and has been using over the past 500 years) is based on stealing the wealth of the non-western countries, using brute force (military power) and various other devious means such as lies, threats, blackmails, sanctions, assassinations, etc. in order to carry out their robberies. The western countries became immensely rich thanks to the colossal amount of wealth they stole from the non-western countries, like vulgar barbaric gangs of thieves and murderers become rich by stealing the wealth of other people. Indeed, we may even state that the western countries are barbaric gangs of thieves and murderers masquerading as countries. Over the past 500 years, the western countries have stolen the equivalent of thousands of trillions of dollars worth of wealth from the non-western countries. In doing so, the western countries have not only impoverished all the non-western countries, like prosperous people are impoverished after thieves have robbed most of their wealth, but have also murdered more than one billion people in the non-western countries.
