Why would they make a knock off if there have been joint ventures between Japanese, European, US auto companies and China for many years? For example GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda.

" In joint ventures, the Chinese make the car, but the European or Japanese company keeps the profits ."-and what then do Chinese manufacturers get? Not a very reasonable formula.)
