Shanghai has always had the cyberpunk aesthetic. Underground culture really has to stay underground. It can't be exploited and commercialized and watered down.

I've lived in Shanghai for the 14 years. It's extremely easy to bypass the firewall. Either get a free VPN and make do with a slow connection or purchase a VPN and use that. I have a subscription to one VPN provider (the one she is using at 3:29) for over two years now and have had very few issues even though the price is $100 a year. All in all it should take around 5 minutes to "break through the great firewall"

Sometimes I think America is stuck with the same way of doing things for so long that it has become very stale. Our music is becoming more or less the same. I have high hopes for not just Shanghai, but many places in the new youth of China.

It‘s not a problem for us to get an access to the blocked sites. The problem is that our ideas on education are still superficial: most of us know 'what it is', but don't know 'why it's like this' or 'how should we deal with it'. The Government is scared of somthing while ignoring the cause of it.
