China ‘threatening to prepare’ for ‘invasion of Taiwan’

ASPI Senior Analyst Dr Malcolm Davis says China is “threatening to prepare” for an “invasion of Taiwan”.
Labor’s defence plans won’t improve Australia’s military capability for at least a decade, according to a report.
The Australian Strategic Policy Institute says the country would only have access to its current force if a war were to break out in the next 10 years.
“Australia’s defence forces are highly capable … but in terms of the threat that we’re facing, particularly from a rising aggressive China, that is challenging regional security and, in particular, is threatening to prepare for an invasion of Taiwan,” Dr Davis told Sky News Australia.
“I think that we need to do more, particularly in terms of investing in, firstly, resilience … and, secondly, in sustainability.
“Those are two areas where we need greater investment.”

However, due to US intervention, the CCP without strong navy at that time has no ability to unify Taiwan. The CCP then established the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1949. The civil war continues. 5) In 1971, UN Resolution No. 2758 ruled that the PRC had obtained the representation rights and all legal rights originally owned by the ROC in the UN. That means the PRC is China’s only legal govt under international law and is recognized by 181 countries around the world, including the USA. "The USA recognizes the Government of the PRC as the sole legal Government of China." "The USA acknowledges the Chinese position that there is but one China and Taiwan is part of China." Joint Cummunique on the Establishment of Diplomatic relations between the PRC and the USA in 1979. Please refer to President Jimmy Carter's Speech on Relations with China. 6) Therefore, according to international law, international reality, and the wishes of the 1.4 billion Chinese people, Taiwan should return to PRC and the PRC have every rights to protect it's sovereign integrity.

The PRC has never controlled or governed the ROC/Taiwan.....The ROC has existed longer than the PRC and the reason the two still exist is because the civil war never ended but DID resolve in the One China Principle.....a deliberately grey diplomatic agreement (which has kept the peace since the UNFINISHED civil war) between the ROC (Taiwan) and the PRC (mainland) where BOTH agree to ONE DAY re-unite BUT where BOTH have VERY different ideas of what this would entail. (unsurprisingly when one entity is a healthy democracy and the other an authoritarian communist cult). Every time the PRC threatens to invade Taiwan(ROC) it ironically and self conveniently (while cluelessly self-serving) threatens to break its own agreement. The UN doesn't even acknowledge Taiwan (ROC) while itself hoping to geographically/ethnically group both into ONE self-convenient (to them) entity despite the real and ACTUAL reality of the situation. No they don't. The CCP never had Taiwan. During the Chinese civil war the CCP won mainland China but the previous Chinese government fled to Taiwan. And ruled over the island. Mainland wants Taiwan to unify yet Taiwan believes in the democratic rule not CCP. So technically the CCP has no right to take Taiwan democratic government of Taiwan gave up the mainland but not the island that they have ruled since their ministry on mainland China. I don't think other countries can allow the CCP take Taiwan either since Taiwan develops 84% of all the world's semi conductors. If that gets in the hands of the CCP. They can blackmail any nation on earth who don't agree with them. As the semi conductors is used for every component needed for manufacturing including for NASA and military eqwipment. Including missiles planes washing machines refrigerators TVs cars and so much more.
