The Namphake Monastery, located in Naharkatia, is a significant spiritual center for the Tai Phake community. The monastery serves as a hub for Buddhist teachings, meditation, and cultural preservation.
One of their vibrant celebrations is the Sangken festival, which marks the traditional New Year. This joyous occasion involves lively water splashing, symbolizing the washing away of past sins and the embracing of a fresh start. Sangken festival showcases the Tai Phake people's unity, faith, and deep-rooted connection to their ancestral traditions.

And let me tell u that Assam is filled with different tribes like Mising, Boro, Kachari, Tai Khamti, Tai Phake, Tai Ahom, etc. (These r Mongolians) and aryans (with surname dutta, kalita, choudhory, das, etc.) who were brought by the Ahoms kings (they were basically zamindars, Pandits, etc.) And illegal Bangladeshi immigrants + tea tribe(from Orissa) + Bihari, Muslims, Marwaris, etc. Too. And also there mixed people too.

Until 1826 Yandaboo treaty after which our King was a puppet under the British but he resisted a lil bit ( I think he didn't pay them any money he was supposed to pay yearly)and then I think from 1835 Upper Assam was under the Direct control of the British

one correction , yannan was an independent kingdom which later became a part of China just like most of Tibet now. So, Yunnan was not a part of China earlier but became a part in present day china.
