When I was little, my grandmother told me that poverty does not equal filth. I traveled to China in the past 14 days. I went to Xinjiang, Tibet, Yunnan, and Guangxi. They were beautiful cities with very friendly people. Very clean. I have been to New Delhi, India, in 2020, and I swear that unless the Indian government is more willing to help its residents obtain a better living environment, I will not go there again in my lifetime.

Same here, went to Yunnan in the 90s, they weren't nearly as developed as it currently is, but it was clean and nice to walk around. I went to Delhi and Pune in 2020, it made me emotionally drained since the first few hours, and it's scary because Pune is considered the already better part of India.

Education is the key for hygiene. In China, in school students are taught at very young age of social responsibility and social behavior. Can't say the same for India. They probably teach religion more than social responsibility and social behavior. Seem like India has a lot to learn from China how to change their people social responsibility and social behavior to keep the country clean with more than 1.4 billion population.

I believe the Chinese benchmark against Singapore in terms of street cleanliness. The main reason why Singapore is so clean is that the SG Government carries a big, big stick. The cleaners also do a fantastic job. Take a walk around a HDB estate during the Chinese New Year holidays and you will appreciate these workers. Education? Maybe, but observe the behaviour of Singaporeans in Malaysia.

In Singapore where I lived, you will be lucky to find a cigarette butt in the drain beside the walk paths. Partly education of public awareness and partly because of strict enforcement by punitive fines, it takes 30 years to clean up nationwide. That said, hygiene and facilities in public toilets in China in first tier cities comparable to Singapore are superb and some are very high tech.

Being an Indian myself, I completely agree with her. People dont even care about the cleanliness, they spit or throw things wherever possible. It disguts me to be honest. Its neither about education, its some basic matters and etiquettes that people here in Indian lack. I have seen so many educated people not minding about keeping our country clean. Eating in the bus and throwing the packate outside the window, spitting while walking, throwing the plastic/paper cups or plates on the road after eating street foods even there is a dustbin available. I very much agree with your assessment regarding cleanliness and hygiene between the Dragon and the Elephant. pardon my punt! In 1960. yes it was long time ago I travelled the length of India from South to North and into Pakistan. The state of the streets I witnessed was very similar to clips of video shown. I got tummy upset by eating uncleaned food. Then in 2005 again I visited albeit a day in Mumbai during my World Cruise. I was shocked to see except for the much wealthier part of the city where rich have their mansions and modern apartments. Most of the streets I seen had changed little remiscing of my first visit! India needs a strong and honest Government who takes their citizens wellfare seriously and utmost improvement!

I’ve traveled to India from south India, Chennai, Kerala, Goa to North, Mumbai and Kolkata. It was a massive shock to see how dirty and filthy the streets where street food are sold. Secondly, the street food vendors are shockingly filthy too. Totally zero hygiene standards!! I was so disappointed because I wouldn’t DARE to try their street food for fear of food poisoning etc. Like this video showing clean streets and beautiful green’s everywhere in China and food vendors in China and very clean with proper hygiene and sanitation this is also very very important for Indian government to look into food safety, food hygiene and sanitation in India too not only clean streets and green environments. Tourists like me and tourists from all over the world would love to experience Indian street food but due to the shocking filthy and zero hygiene conditions, we are put off with bad experience. Our of my 2 weeks travelling in India, half the time I have experience food poisoning and that’s a disaster!!! I hope that the Indian government and the Indian people will change their mindset and copy China.

Chinese streets are relatively clean compared to most developing countries mostly because of heavy maintenance by municipal cleaning workers as your video shows. People’s awareness of maintaining public hygiene has also improved dramatically over the last 20 years. Good video!
