India was created in 1947 out of the polity left behind by the departed British. Once created, India bullied China in the 1950s and 60s. India land grabbed China and gobbled up South Tibet, an area twice the size of Taiwan in 1951. In 1987 India renamed the area to the so-called Arunachal Pradesh. In 1975 India gobbled up Sikkim, a neighbor of China for several hundreds of years before India even exist. Today Bhutan, a country very similar to Sikkim culturally and ethnically, is semi-occupied by India and India sure has territorial design on Bhutan. For anyone who doubt what I said, look up the map of Akhand Bharat fantasized by Indian nationalists.

Can you imagine if India started with the slums, they contribute in such a big way to our economy. Give them a long term scheme of owning a home and bonus points for upkeeping their neighbourhood. We too can better our country but by aping Wedtern way of life we may end up having homelessness, high divorce rates, children abandoned at early age and just a few at the top having a good life.

China public park toilets are free and looks like those in a 5-star hotel. Chinese public travels on 350 km/hr bullet train. Indian toilets are open and smelly and dirty, and public travel on top of the slow trains. So there is no comparison.

Chinese toilets have camera's for employers to spy if their employees are actually pooping. China public toilets have no toilet paper because it will be stolen. China has mass toilets where hundreds line up to take a dump so you can see the people in front of you doing their thingy, if you smellalalalala what the Sanca is cooking!

I think the Indians already know that problem. But I just don't understand why is it so difficult for them to keep it clean. I heard it was because their religion prohibited them. Well, if their God asks them not to do it, I hope they need to check the old interpretation versus the new one. Perhaps, the Indian high priest misconstrued the words in the script since it was too obscured.

I used to live in NYC in 2007-8 and again in 2011. The subway system there is pretty smelly and dirty. Lots of rats and homeless people. I visted NYC again in Dec 2018 and there was practically no change in the years between.

In countries where capitalism, or neo-liberalism, is the order of the day in the West, urban and rural planning becomes almost impossible. In China, where the land is owned by the state, and the so-called "national sentiment" of the Chinese people that puts the country first, it is easier for the government to carry out the renovation of the old towns and cities so that the living conditions of the people can be improved in a tangible way. This is probably not possible in India.

Exactly 💯 land in the hands of the people is one of root causes why uplifting urban/rural infrastructure is almost impossible in India & this problem not limited here... creating more roads, more SEZs etc, hugely limited by this. I'm Chinese, for the land in the rural area or villege, there are two lands, one called homestead, another land for cultivation. they all belong to the farmer instead of Govt since 1949. these lands can't be sold. that's why everyone farmer has his own home and land. so you seldom saw homeless people in China. but for the land for the city or town, it's different story with villege.

The scale of China's development totally eclipses that of India. The reasons are cultural, social and political. China is extremely advanced in all areas. What must India do? First, get rid of Hindu nationalism. Focus on uniting the country ethnically. Second, fix human rights issues, especially with regards to women. Third, bolster nationwide education. Fourth, speed up infrastructure improvements. It's taking too long. Fifth, make the country more welcoming to FDI and foreign businesses. Stop punishing them.

In China there is a slogan called "if you want to be rich, then you need build the road first". now even for the rural area, for every villege, they have roads, 4G signal, power coverd. we called "三通“，通路，通电，通网络。this is mandatory for the local gov, you can treat them as the KPI for local officer. for the road, we have different levels of road including high way, national way, provincial way and county way. the frastructure for rural area was improved dramatically during the past 20 years.

The biggest obstacle for India's development is the ownership of the land. Even you wish to build all new cities with all the roads, railways, houses, schools , shopping malls for people to move in like China, the landlords and people own properties in old cities won't let it happen. @@user-ed7rz7nl5i It's a joke.. not every thing is military power and trillion dollar economy.. you know, 10% of India total population hold almost 77% of countries total wealth.. and poorest of the poor are struggling for 4 % of countries wealth, even though we are the exporter of large amount of food grains our own people are dying out of hunger, our country rank 135th in terms of human development index, and it ranks 66 in terms of corruption which is very bad... India is only 1 st in population and 2nd in roads network.. bro we Indians had to work even more hard to become superpower.. and this is reality,, making a 4 trillion dollar economy with 1.4 billion people is such a shame, while Japan with 11 crore people make more than 5 trillion dollar economy

India is too big and not easy to change overnight. They need to be strategic to reach level of what the Chinese has achieved though it may take a longer period. First thing first, they need referendum to stipulate systemic governances that are independent of those who hold top political office every 4 to 5 years, which means they can still be democratic with elections but certain policies for national development must be beyond the top leaders. This will prevent uninterrupted projection of growth for national development and deterrence of corruptions.

I am sure Indian cities have nice parts too. Butin China, the good parts , clean parts and safe parts are the norm vs some countries like US or EU and even in India they're the Exception not the norm. Perhaps the only other countries are Singapore or Japan. Even in Singapore they had to do it using very strict laws and heavy penalties. One doesn't hear it about China. Even in Japan they had rules and they're enforced using social pressures

Factually, structurally, by numbers or by design, India is no way close to overtaking China, structurally. Infact never had a desire to overtake China to begin with. Firstly, they do not have the political or social system to support them to overtake even by 2047. Wondering what give her the idea that they actually could. China started moving economically since Deng Xiao peng while India has not even began at all there's simply too much catching up to do ( 70 years). At these rate if we count 2024 as a starting point, India ain't catching up even by the end of this 21st C.
