What in the world does China gain by having Taiwan? I've NEVER understood it; other than the fact of proving to the rest of China that "nobody defies us. Look; Taiwan even joined us, so you will need to stop asking questions and considering yourselves separate from us." Taiwan has no economical gain for China; so the aggression they hold toward a TINY island is hilarious; but horrifying. The sheer level of Xi's ego, and China as a governmental entity is actually middle school tyranny. They gain NOTHING by overtaking Taiwan; but they qualm the smallest and least vocal outstanding voice against them... China's government sincerely looks pathetic with their pure aggression toward such a tiny country that has decided to be themselves. Very North Korea vibe; lots of vocal anger without any actual backing up of power.... sadly China has the power to back it up; but the rhetoric is still just as childish and middle-school esque, even if they have the power to follow through. It comes off as supremely pathetic.

It's not an economical move it is strongly emotional from China. It's like if America fought for it's freedom from Britain but Britain remained in control of Maryland. There is a strong emotional need from China to see their civil war ended and their party victorious. Which definitely sucks because the economic justifications will always be a second order priority.

Seeing that China just purged a large part of their missile force does not show a great deal of readiness for a war that would require a great deal of reliance on the missile defense. In addition a war would basically shut down their trade with the rest of the world. How long do you think they can hold out? They are more dependent on global trade than Russia and just about any other major country.

The weather is better in October for an invasion. Also, it would be at the peak of the USA election. You would see an embargo of Taiwan in late Summer and threats to invade if they Taiwanese don't capitulate. We shall see?
@jamesnewman902411 ай бұрын
Get your wording and reasoning correct Prince. China cannot "invade" Taiwan because Taiwan is recognized by 95% of the worlds' nations - including the US - recognize Taiwan as part of China. It would be like the US invading one of it's states or territories. Pls get real bro. And anyone who wants actual reality and fact based analysis on China/Taiwan check out New Atlas.

and yet we occupied afghanistan for 20 years against probably one of the most determined enemies the usa has ever known. tech will overcome hundreds of thousands of men any day of the week. the only reason why the usa lost vietnam was because we didnt have the tech advantage and we were not willing to level entire swaths of land to win. how do you think that plays out if we had just leveled half of north vietnam? an enemy that is willing to do that wins by default against a people that have no counter to such tech. this is crazy talk.

First off I want to make it perfectly fair I don't care one way or the other therefore I have no skin in the game. Secondly all I can say is that a extremely close friend of mine lives in China but is high up in the government and I can tell you without any doubt collapse of the Chinese stock market in the whole economy going to hell that the elites including president XI of China are absolutely terrified that the people will rise up and therefore they have nothing else to lose than to go ahead and take Taiwan and therefore they are going to take Taiwan by any means necessary come hell or high water it's going to happen within the next 30 days, and I can tell you exactly what day will be the last day that they are doing what they're doing to take back Taiwan and that is April 8th because that's an eclipse and it moves and is involved with exactly their Chinese calendar and the year of the red dragon attack. In other words China is about to take time on and no one on this God Green Earth is going to stop them so it is what it is

China is not attacking Taiwan. 1) China can't simply drive there like Russia did in Ukraine. China doesn't currently have the sealift capability to land enough troops and materiel on Taiwan to take it. Taiwan has few beaches suitable for amphibious landings and those can be heavily mined in short order. 2) Taiwan has had decades to prepare for this, not a few years like Ukraine. They have upgraded everything from armor to anti-air defense to their air force. They have more of everything than Ukraine did. 3) Taiwan has an ace up their sleeve. Their longest range cruise missiles can reach the Three Gorges Dam which has a couple hundred million people who live downstream of it. A volley of missiles could put them all underwater. China could eventually subdue Taiwan in a protracted war, but at such a cost that it would require a change to the vocabulary of war. Instead of a Pyrrhic victory, a victory at too high a cost would have to be renamed a Xiic victory.
