Absolutely brilliant single! How this was not a bigger hit is completely bewildering.
@kyachdistent13012 жыл бұрын
The same reason all their other songs that should have been hits weren't and the same reasons everyone else's songs that should have been hits or bigger hits weren't: people are effing stupid, have no taste and are driven buy the dictates of shitty fashions. In other words, you unerringly support utter crap like slagdonna, the S/A/W shit machine, Spamhead Ballet, Madness, Cure, Weller, Sting, Phil Collins, Wet Wet Wet, Bros, dumb novelty records and even decent people with underwhelming songs (George Michael) or ones that have yucky songs &/or lousy voices (Tina Turner, Whitney Houston)! No decent artist allowed to have a chance more than a few songs that get 'luckier' than all their others. This China C song like all of them deserved to be much higher! But people are twats!

@@ajs41 It so isn't. This song, 'Arizona Sky', 'St. Saviour Square', 'The Highest High', 'You Did Cut Me', 'No More Blue Horizons (Fool Fool Fool)', 'All My Prayers' (awesome & rudely cancelled 1989 3rd single from their last 80s album) & 'Scream Down At Me' (plus many things left on the albums) are superior, as good as 'AAW' is.
@eightiesmusic1984 Жыл бұрын
@@kyachdistent1301 All My Prayers would not have been a hit. It is a good song but without a remix it would not have charted. More album track than contender for successful single.
@kyachdistent1301 Жыл бұрын
@@eightiesmusic1984 Bullshit, it's perfect in the version that turned up on the finished album. Anyway, it's not like it helped the singles beforehand did it, nor the 2 chalked up to follow the 1st 2 off the previous album from 1986. Even 'The Highest High' missed out and most people went for that album. The year is 1989 and no one is going to chart ANY CC song with the likes of slagdonna, Kylie Minogur, Tina Turner, Wet Wet Wet, Bros, Jive Bunny & c/rap and all else suffocating the charts. Remix my arse. Clearly that's meant to be the 3rd single on a very cool album anyway.

Really like their sound. As a child i thought this typical synth music from the U..K mostly, sounded so grim. Ffw a decade or 3... i just love it. The grimness is nothing compared to what we see nowadays. I love how during the eighties there was so much experimenting going on with vocals. The balls they had to keep pushing. Also they had great content lyrically. Not line after line of meaningless teenage issues.
@kyachdistent13012 жыл бұрын
Grim? But that's a compliment, it means writing about serious issues and unlike the likes of Weller's shit group The Jam and dumb idiots like Madness & Spamhead Ballet, China C had serious things to say. I don't get this 'grim' thing, guitar-based music is grim. Not only does it always sound more dated than synth lines, but it usually gets boring quick. And don't term this 'typical synth'. Nothing 'typical' about this awesome tune or EVERYBODY could do it. Typical guitar-based crap is what I'd term Bon Jovi and other shit from the 80s without an important sound, or who are just bad jokes. And typical disco crap is what the likes of slagdonna the untalented does. And dumb kids music like Wham! & Michael Jackson and icky ear-splitting love ballad bull from Whit Houston, Tina Turner and all those boring women, then the awful S/A/W machine. And more guitar-driven icky crap like Phil Collins, Sting. Yuck. Thank God for REAL talent like China Crisis!
