Chifa comes from cantonese for cooking, not from mandarin for eating. Similar sounds to peruvian ears. But chinese migration to Peru was mainly cantonese.

Yes, that's right. Currently peruvian-chinese and chinese people are treated way better in Peru than in the USA. They work and are businessmen. Generally good people!!!

Chifa is from cantonese for cooking, not from mandarín “eating” or “hace a meal”. Both terms sound similar, but chinese migration was vastly cantonese.

Back to China? They speak Cantonese there. Non of the local dialects or Tibetan language etc have been banned. People speak mandarin in addition to their local dialect. And most kids also speak English.
