During my business trips to Shanghai, I came across a mosque within the city not far from a subway station (forgot which one) on a Sunday with its door open. There was a Muslim woman standing at the door to allow Muslims into the Mosque. I stood by curiously and watched. People with hats started entering. Throughout different parts of the city, I've seen Han-looking Muslim as well as Persian & Russian-looking Uighurs speaking the Uighur language. I have mistaken one European-looking Uighur as an American Expat until he walked towards and joined a group of Persian-looking Muslims and starting talking to them in their own language.

I was invited to come teach English to Uyghurs at least a year and a half ago, but I’ve still got 2 boys at home. The words in the questions were not complicated. He spoke slowly enough, and enunciated well. Just because the Iman didn’t respond in English doesn’t mean he doesn’t understand it, or even speak it himself. Very glad to hear the beautiful Uyghur language for the first time! And very smart pastor to be able to speak it even though most Uyghur aren’t Muslim (but practice their traditional Indigenous religion). 80% of culture is in the language, how things are described, etc. For example, the word for pears in Cherokee translates to “low fruit hanging down.” I’m glad to see the pastor recognize oppression begins with restricting language, and he’s showing it isn’t being restricted; he can talk to all his flock, whether they speak Mandarin or the Uyghur language.

Brother, this is a very good question : ) we (Muslims) pray 5 times a day but it takes 30- 45 minutes everyday, we can pray from home but if we want to pray in mosque we can. Sometimes it get difficult to pray on time, if you are busy at work but we can also pray later when we get time. : )
