I like that she keeps it vulnerable and fragile at the end.. like she's defeated emotionally, she's done everything she can. When she's saying "I'm sorry..." it's so sad because she's apologizing for her self, like she has done something wrong in loving the other person "too much", when it's probably the other person who is too closed off and emotionally unavailable. (People with Anxious attachment style are often attracted to people with avoidant attachment style, which I think she describes well in this song). And yeah, both are trauma responses. Great reaction :) I think you do actually become more empathetic the more you expose yourself to other people's personal stories and viewpoints.

Exactly, we open with her realising she can't walk away but should, it builds as she says she would change all her boundaries for this person, then frustration, screaming and begging into an apology for wanting to be loved and then into the last set of "say I" which is almost tears and acceptance. It was perfect.

She is dressed as a fly to promote her upcoming album 'Flytrap' which is set to release on June 7th!

Don't think this is promotional as such but storytelling. _Flytrap_ is Chinchilla's concept EP, from which 1:5 is drawn but tells part of an overarching tale. The EP is drawn from a story Chinchilla's mum said in response to a situation Chinchilla faced and the EP explores the differing aspects and sides of this story. 1:5 is about control and oppression, represented by the white setting and faceless/formless characters wearing hobnail style boots (link to Little Girl Gone). Chinchilla is a fly, who could normally escape but has had her wings clipped and so has become trapped.

For me this is the best song i have heard in a long time.... Like you say Izzy, it's very thought provoking. I have been on both sides of this scenario. I think when you love someone so much but your partner is a bit cold emotionally. The pain and hurt after you break up can leave you with mental scars. The next time you fall for someone you become slightly colder yourself emotionally, sort of mental pretection against that hurt and so on! I think Chinchilla is looking straight at the camera as if the man that hurt her is stood in front of her, and she is pouring her heart out to him. The last minute of the song feels like she is crying, begging for him to love her..... When the camera fades to black and then back to normal several times through out the song it feels as if someone is slowly blinking, just watching her. Amazing reaction video as always, thanks mate.

Exactly! I think this is an anxiously attached person’s anthem to a dismissive avoidant. I’m avoidant and I appreciating you realizing it’s a coping mechanism developed in childhood to protect from hurt. It’s not that we don’t love it’s just terrifying to be vulnerable. Great reaction.

For me the full impact comes in the last minute, especially her apology that her needs for more affection and recognition is wrong and she doesn’t what the object of her love to walk away. Even her deepest imploring for love back makes her feel like she is unworthy for being so needy. Or maybe that’s my own feelings overlaid. Either way, it keeps making me cry! For the first three minutes she is expressing how she truly feels and being completely honest about how her partner/ex hurts her when they don't return her love equally. That's incredibly vulnerable and terrifying for someone who openly admits, "I won’t make you choose, in case you do, in case i lose, now." The sorry at the end is heartbreaking because she's apologizing for finally expressing the pain she could no longer hold back. It suggests that she's been told before that she gets too emotional and when she does her partner (probably multiple partners) pull back even more because they can't handle the outpouring of emotion without dissociating. It sounds like an anxious/avoidant relationship and it takes a lot of effort on both sides to understand each other and make it work.

Some of the best art expresses truth. We interpret it through our own experiences if we're receptive to exploration. The stunning opening lines totally hook us in for the story. I rather like that she leaves the ending unresolved; as the story is unresolved and leaves us pondering.

"I like to think about stuff" is probably the most relatable line you've ever said😂 I feel like the fly symbolizes being just an annoyance to someone. She 's telling the other person what she needs and they just see it as bothersome. Giving just enough energy to shue it away. The last minute or so feels to me like she's tried everything and can't up the stakes anymore. It's just a plead of not understanding and apologizing for some unknown wrong. As a people-pleaser since birth I can empathize with that😂. Luckily I'm in my my don't give a f*** years now.

Chinchilla/Daisy has a beautiful and powerful voice. She is beautiful and so creative. Her lyrics are thought provoking in the songs I have listened to so far. I believe it's easier to connect to someone who is laying their raw emotions out there in lyrics and performance. I've been married 44 years and it's had it's rocky parts. What makes it work for me is having 2 people willing to put time and effort into each other and communication. We all make mistakes so it's better to spend the time and effort into the person you are with then give up and start over. Unless it's abusive of course. Unfortunately we have not all had great examples of our parents having a good marriage. We can still learn from the bad as well as the good. Great reaction and breakdown. I love how you really think things through before you speak.

Th te seems to he a contingent of fans that are convinced that she dresses as a fly to promote her new album, Flytrap. I feel that cheapens who Chinchilla has long since shown she is. Since when has Chinchilla sold herself out for marketing? Since when has she taken her deep, moving artwork and smothered it in advertising posters so make money or fame? Well, maybe before, but thats why she left that record label. So I feel that she is a fly in a wall. A white wall indicated by everything and everyone dressed in white. Except her. The fly. She is easy to see. Easy to swat. And she's had her wings clipped so she can't escape. That fly in thst moment is one if the most vulnerable creatures in existence.

@@Colleen_OHbut does the EP and the costume and this track all tie in together....................? Pre-order on the EP all round then! 😂
@rachelk89374 ай бұрын
It does tie in to the EP for me because of the story in the Outro and mentioned in part in “Bounce Back” from her mother. She talks about how holding on tightly will kill a fly and how that isn’t love, but possession. To me at least, she is trapped in the relationship (like the fly), but also simultaneously trying to hold on so tightly to this person who is clearly not reciprocating (perhaps also embodying the flytrap). That’s just my take and I think it’s another level of symbolism that shows her genius.

I like the way you try to make sure you adequately percolate before you articulate. Many other reactors articulate far too early; let's call it what it is: premature articulation! Then there are those who simply articulate without any percolation. I call this unprotected articulation which, as we all know, can lead to unforeseen consequences. I agree. I think this is her best yet. Like Ren, she keeps getting better each song. I disagree about the ending but I'm not a musician. There is a studio version and it is a little different. You might prefer it. Keep on articulating, Izzy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/foXInZ5od5lrr9U

I can tell you are a deep thinker. I hope we have a conversation some day. Gotta sub. My first presentation as a 33 year old dude going to college on my terms as a pre med student is titled "Fundamental Thinking | On Order, Chaos and Entropy" My goal is to help as many individuals as possible using medicine and philosophical clinical psychology. We treat medicine as ailment = medication instead of looking at root causes for illness and we always overlook mitigation protocols. Plus the institutions are captured by echo chambers that sing songs with a dark bent towards tyranny and a control mindset. But we can heal them with understanding and balance. Maybe Dr Jordan B Peterson is right when he says that "god is what extracts order from chaos". Let's work towards contentment by utilizing expression in a positive way to mitigate the extrnalities of suffering. It's never too late to follow your dreams.
