The reaction to 'Little Girl Gone' has been amazing, eye-opening, heart wrenching. I wanted to create a live version of this song which depicts the darker more sinister themes, as well as the strength behind it. Writing this song was liberation for me and I feel that every time I sing it. I wanted to strip away everything and show the vulnerability behind the empowerment. A different angle - the place it comes from. I hope this resonates with you and maybe offers help in some way to those who find strength in it.
I released this song / video entirely independently and funded it all myself. This video was made with so much love from all the people involved. Hugely appreciated, Lady Chinchilla. I just messaged a pile of male family members your videos. I'm genuinely sorry for only considering my female family for sharing your music with, because that's idiotic. Maybe I didn't want the male family to know part of my DV experience as intimately as this music conveys?? But haven't kept any gendered division in sharing with friends, so some glitch in my brain around family. I'll work it out. This song helped me reframe an extremely unexpected unplanned event, where I went from recognising a past abuser at a party, and seeing him get up and walk towards me, to having him pinned on the ground, crying, in what felt like a millisecond. I was scared that hadn't made a "choice" but having talked about it more recently after first hearing this realised there was a choice I didn't have an uncontrollably violent streak, I acted based on my extended knowledge of a dangerous individual, following police, courts, restraining orders, stalking and interstate pursuit. Seeing the look of terror in his eyes, whilst "laughing it off" and trying to get the party host to kick me out was still worth it. Having the party host, who I later found out had been close friends with the guy, say " _I don't know what you did, but I've known her almost 20yrs, this reaction from her means you're lower than scum, you get out and you lose my number_ " But having to actually let go and unpin him from the ground was so fucking hard, like swimming through concrete. I was strong enough though, and since that incident in 2016, a culmination of 4 years of hell, he has not made even one attempt at contact or harassment. I understand my instincts better now, and why they can help my body act before my brain, and I feel safer to trust myself completely.

There is a mental deep and then there is rage deep; the anger that we bury deep. I'm singing with you from DEEP inside. I see the faces of so many from my past flash in my mind. YES!!!!! I feel very different tones and emotions between the 2 Maybe different stages or even different moods THIS IS my Battle Anthem- my war drums!!!! Before his emails are read/before contacting my lawyer/ before/after therapy - or like today - 1 year today After the last straw situation- the awakening 2 hrs of sleep Going through everything and grabbed what I needed What was important for the kids in 6 suitcases Tomorrow marks the day we got on the plane and flew over the country and an ocean away- Therapy and deprogram all the mental and emotional abuse as/is the hardest “Fingers” was found a few months later and helped me a lot March 2023- my breakthrough- I actually married an actual narcissist- learning about o look at patterns and decoding everything is actual work to not let myself fall into the traps Right after this breakthrough and I start seeing how horrible and sly it progress d over 16 years- the love bombing and gaslighting cycles- I was getting angry He tried to tell me there was no hole in the wall- and I lost it- it was huge fist size - at my head level- my kid showed it to his best friend n the morning- it was in the Mp report- photo was used in his army hearing- He didn’t say he didn’t punch the wall- he straight faced said- there was no hole on the all and I was a liar- This is why I need this Anthem- I have to mental and emotionally get ready to read his last words- talk about him- This song came out with the lyric video at the exact moment I needed it: and I took it to my women’s support group. I love how many women have found this song and really make a connection- that we put in the work/ we have worth/ we take the power back/ step on me and try to mold me with that dictator/oppressive boot- nope I bottle that look- I like the taste for real- because my ex can’t handle that I am not a backing down- I do t feel him with my emotions and reactions anymore- he aHates it- And I wish I could save it relish it as well- because that is huge for me after 16 years of always backing I’m up and backing down to him.

Oh WoW 😱 art song/operatic at times mixed with that sad bit then the hopeful resolution in the piano. Chinchilla your vocals are just a piece of art on their own. So beautiful. I love this so much and it's such a departure from the original. Makes the perfect yin-yang. Bravo encore 10☆

Aaand...just as with Ren's "Animal Flow", I vastly prefer this live version of "Little Girl Gone" to the studio recording. Taking nothing away from the MV, between the two versions, this is the one I will watch and listen to over and over again. Brilliant song, brilliant performing artist ❤❤❤
