Both this song and Fingers are about her relationship with the music industry. She wasn't treated very well by management, labels, etc. She kept giving them chances and they kept failing her. Trying to control her. So she went independent, produced this herself, and proved that she can do it without them. And considering this is probably the most successful single she's had in her career, I'd say she doesn't need them anymore. Check out Elements the lyric video next. @@flightlessbird1892 definitely 👍 especially considering what a serious subject it is & how women often either respond in silence believing the lie that they’re being silly or blowing the whole thing out of proportion OR they resign themselves to the abuse. This Needs to be an anthem for all those who feel that they don’t have any power let alone a voice. In the video, the aggressors are male, which Is common, but I think the lyrics don’t specify, which is good, cos bullying is also a thing & women do that “very well” too.
