Chinese 125 cc valve adjustment

Adjusting the Valves on a 2017 Kymco Kpipe 125
This is the second adjustment. milage is 2013.
valve adjustment service manual print out can be found at the end of the video for convenience.
Service manual calls for .08mm clearance on both the intake and exhaust on this engine.
It will be the same method of adjustment for most size chinese dirtbike and quads. individual clearance will vary depending on the specific engine. please research your own engine type to get the correct clearances. let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for this video! The other demonstrations of this (doing a valve adjustment) I saw did not mention the camshaft alignment marks. So I tried adjusting the valves just based on the flywheel and ended up with serious valve tick. After I saw this I made sure the flywheel and the cam were aligned and now my engine purrs like a kitten. 👍

How you doing sir, i have a chinese 125cc engine , it kicks over and ive put a brand new piston in it, however there is little to NO compression (20psi) , could this be due to the valves? ive adjusted timing so it maches up etc , the cylinder has no scratches or scoring. Would adjusting the valves bring compression back? thanks!

When i bought my atv it was set on 0.02 and 0.03 and it was working normal

I just got the Vader 125 the first day it would turn over. The second day we got it to start and rode it for an hour everything was fine no issues, the 3rd day it didn’t turn over right away but after the 3rd try it started I rode it for maybe 1 minute and it just shut off. I called the place I purchased it from and they sent me a new carburetor, I replaced the carburetor and it won’t turn over. No issues with the started as it cranks up but does not turn over. Any suggestions?

So I know the carburetors on these run lean from the factory. Make sure the choke is on while starting. An easy way to asses the situation when it’s not starting is to look at the spark plug. If it’s wet, there is most likely a spark issue. If the spark plug looks dry there is no fuel getting to the engine which points to a carburetor issue. Hope that helps 👌

everybody tells to not overtighten the nuts on the tappetadjuster. dont they Come loose due to the vibrations of the engine?

From what I’ve read it’s somewhere between 10 - 15nm which is about 10 ft lbs torque spec.

Do I need to adjust my valve . I bought new Chinese bike but the bike rpm is low and feel less powerfull . 125cc that doesn't reach 100 kmph .

If it’s a new bike, I’d contact the dealer. They should offer some trouble shooting assistance. To be honest 100 kmh is faster than most of these 125 cc bikes are rated for. The Honda Grom / MSX 125 is rated at 95 kmh top speed.

@@everybodysjonathan this has the vertical CG engine. also the engine is shaking like hell from 3500 rpm

I’d check valves on any Chinese bike new or used before putting any real time on the seat. Mine were out of spec (tight intake and exhaust) when first checked at 400 miles/ 650 km. Likely out of spec from the factory. That being said it still ran with similar performance. I’m not sure if this will be your problems fix though.

@moah glade, I've had 4 Chinese pit bikes and my dad's friends have had around 2 or 3 each and they all say the same thing about them, 9 out of 10 times the carb they come with is trash from the get go, a new carb will improve top speed and throttle response but of course make sure your valves are adjusted aswell or the carb won't make any difference in that regard

Having some oil inside the cam cover cap is normal.

No need to change the oil for a valve adjustment.

Per the service manual printed from the dealer shows .08 intake and .08 exhaust specs for this bike. May be different for other manufacturers.
