Interesting, I have an oleo Mac 560 that as far as my research can churn up is Chinese so got a cylinder and piston 45.2mm on the way will look at carb upgrade too. Will keep an eye out for the next installation 👍

I true hand can take the cheapest whatever and hang with the big dogs. I got a Chicago electric welder I literally found in the dumpster and have zero problems laying dimes out with very little splatter r slag . Yes I now this isn't about welders , it's about cheap chainsaws. Comprenday

Friend, good morning! From Brazil. I have a big problem with a Chinese Thorq 62cc chainsaw. I tried to start it and when I pulled the starter cord it was very hard. I removed the spark plug and it turned the engine free when I pulled the string, but if I put my finger in the hole where the spark plug goes, the piston is completely locked as if it were vacuum or excess compression. Do you have any idea what it could be? I disassembled it and the connecting rod, crankshaft and bearing, piston rings are good. The piston had carbonization on the top but I cleaned it and also decarbonized the cylinder. I can't find the new cylinder and piston for it, as they are 48mm in diameter. I only found 43mm and 45mm for sale. When I assembled it, I still had the same problem, as if it were a hydraulic wedge, an excess of compression that doesn't allow the piston to descend or ascend freely. Can you give me any tips on what is causing the problem?

You could try putting the rings in the bore on their own and measure the gap, might be a bit tight and need a little grinding off?

If i gring 6.47 1-1.5 mm will it match 6:29 base of the transfer area?

I have a John Carter 5800 that I just remove the base gasket on and it rips with a 3/8 18 or 20 inch bar for what it is

Hello from Brazil my friend Can you try to help me, please? My chainsaw(chinese) has a problem with excessive compression. But when I remove the spark plug the piston rotates normally. Even placing your finger in thze spark plug opening causes the piston to become extremely compressed again. Yesterday I installed a completely new cylinder and piston, but the problem remains. I changed the spark plug, removed the carburetor and exhaust fan, and still the problem remains. Do you have any idea what it could be? Can I send you a video showing the problem? I have been seeking help with this mystery on various social media channels, Instagram, KZbin, but no one has been able to guess what could be causing the problem.

I did, not posted yet though. Think I have an air leak. I did the video after changing two variables, other being upping the gearing. It wasn't any faster. Needs more work. Might machine the cylinder from the other type of 62cc saw. Looks much more promising, very much larger transfers.

Well I was able to find both cylinder kits. The 48mm that has correct intake configuration is 48mills But the other cylinder is actually a 47.5 mills I have 47.5mm pop up pistons to try out. Curious how your 48 mmm actually ran?

Hi James, it ran ok, sealing the inlet bits was a pain. Would like to 3d print a manifold if my ancient pc could run fusion 360... Needed more work as power gain was less than expected with bigger carb given how much bigger it was. I should build a Dyno to get some figures sometime!

If no gasket do you seal it with a bonding compound like Yamabond?

And see if you can get a high top piston it's a little bit more money but you'll get a more even burn in the cylinder! Less than $40

Been a while since I looked into this, I think the capacity changes are all done by bigger bore. The '58' are 45mm bore.

Take the muffler off and measure through the port. Use the depth rode on a caliper.
