Awesome sauce!!! The whole process is a never ending journey and you appear to be on an excellent path. Your work appears good and fluid, even, and clean. The saw clearly reacted well. I have seen some horrible attempts in comparison before so you should be proud. Now, just wait until you ruin your first cylinder- bad timing, chipped plating, tool slip etc. Keep doing good things my friend.

You can get a bunch more power out of that saw easily. I've built a couple. Get the cylinder with dividers in the transfers, widen the ports a bit, square the bottom of the piston off on the sides by the transfers its blocking them a bit, add a bigger intake and 372 carb and they scream. With the bigger carb they dont need the port timing raised.
@MrBooMY3 Жыл бұрын
What do I need to get to upgrade the intake boot? I have 2 of these saws and I want to make em as mean as I can on the cheap just to see what I can do. I already got a Farmmac F660V and dropped a Hyway Big Bore Popup Piston Kit on it, deleted base gasket with Hondabond (permatex Grey), Added a gutted Hyway Dual Port Muffler, only did a basic clean up on the cylinder. I honestly didn't test the squish, but she's producing 180 PSI of compression.

That thing seems to be holding the RPMs in the cut very well. That's not whimpy wood you are cutting either. I found that same fuel consumption issue with my Poulan 2150, It sucks the fuel back like crazy, I thought I had a carb fail or I soft seized it because after a bunch of cookies it wouldn't idle... It was completely out of fuel! I really noticed the fuel consumption when I made an Iron Horse pipe. The saw went from kind of puffing some air out of the exhaust that I couldn't really feel to knocking over an empty Gatorade bottle from 2 feet away and being a leaf blower, no joke. Thanks for sharing your results, with it. It's great data that we all are benefiting from. I have a couple mores saws I'm getting my hands on, can't wait to get into them and see what happens.

very well done ports, but there is an exhaust with three pipes for such saws, which gives it even better release of exhaust pressure, and you have a big drop in revolutions when cutting, is the pre-ignition angle set at least 10° btdc or 0.4-0.5 mm btdc?

Friend, good morning! From Brazil. I have a big problem with a Chinese Thorq 62cc chainsaw. I tried to start it and when I pulled the starter cord it was very hard. I removed the spark plug and it turned the engine free when I pulled the string, but if I put my finger in the hole where the spark plug goes, the piston is completely locked as if it were vacuum or excess compression. Do you have any idea what it could be? I disassembled it and the connecting rod, crankshaft and bearing, piston rings are good. The piston had carbonization on the top but I cleaned it and also decarbonized the cylinder. I can't find the new cylinder and piston for it, as they are 48mm in diameter. I only found 43mm and 45mm for sale. When I assembled it, I still had the same problem, as if it were a hydraulic wedge, an excess of compression that doesn't allow the piston to descend or ascend freely. Can you give me any tips on what is causing the problem?

*Suppose* it now consumes the tank of gas in half time. If it also delivers double the power then it finishes the job in half time. And the consumed gas per completed job remains the same. So if it now consumes the gas tank way sooner it is not as bad as it sounds, because it also makes more work.

Also would like to know if that wrist pin is 10mm. Possible piston for the 55 builds? Nice dome for sure and has the windowed piston just like the stihl 026. I just ordered a stihl piston for mine and a 350 piston for the stock 45mm cylinder. Kinda trying to things. Well see how it goes!

The the darker wood in the close up shot is Southern Red Oak, also known as "Scarlet Oak". The other wood is just Red Oak. Not much of a difference really. Both are very much hardwoods.

I was cutting some red oak with a friend of mine who was using one and I thought it wasn't that good but when I tuned the carb and put a hand file with a goof file I was shocked. It was pulling wood almost as good as any 60cc saw I've used. It seems to likes cut speed more though. Just my thoughts. Thanks

Time for the moment of truth, A Wack-off between the old Wemars and the new Wemars. The chain seems a little grabby, did you take the rakers down too far ? My chinese saws use a lot of fuel, One thing is for sure, that's a good looking saw. Cylinders are so cheap for those that you can experiment for the price of a couple beers.
@novicelumberjack2 жыл бұрын
Rakers may have been just a touch too low, but that was some really hard oak too. I just split it all up, and there where a lot of knots hiding all over the place. Splitting it all up was a real task, but I need the workouts. Feels great when it's finished! I think the Wemars is great looking too! One of the prettiest saws I've ever seen. Definitely in my personal top 10, looks wise.

Ehhh i used to think sandpaper n stuff was the way. Until I talk to some saw builders of 30 PLUS years. And they both told me that's wasted effort. Since then I have NOT polished anything. I just take better care when using bits. I noticed zero difference whatsoever And I save a solid hour of extra work Kevin Smith ran my 52cc Amazon saw. And he said it was "better to run" than my brisco 4910 And idk if you seen but I posted my 4910 on the FB group and it sold within 15minutes

@jeremymyers56432 жыл бұрын
Define better to run, cause I highly doubt it made more power.
@novicelumberjack2 жыл бұрын
@@jeremymyers5643 hmmm, why do you doubt it? Significantly higher compression, improved timing, much increased and better flow characteristics, higher fuel consumption without significant waste...all signs point towards a very logical improvement in power. Very curious to know why you would doubt the increase. But there will be a test in the future.
@bennyblanko32 жыл бұрын
I bought one just to see if it would run, and it surprised me - I think they claim 58cc, but I'm sure it is less. I use it as my "junk" saw, when I know I'm going to hit rock, or winter time in the snow when I can't see what is below. I'll cut with a "good" saw, and use this for the last 3 inches - heh heh. Not a nice way to treat it. But, I'm going to port it now, not that it runs bad - it actually runs great and cuts great for how light it is. I wonder if mine is open port like yours, or quad port. Never even checked squish. Also, do you thing the exhaust needs a little more. Those 2 pipes are kinda small? I guess only 50cc. But, Charles Brisco uses 1" on some of his 4910 builds.
