I think it’s plausible for Jiangqing and Qianlong to appear in the same group of objects since the two reigns overlap for a few years. During the fist three years of jiaqing reign, qianlong was still alive. So assume these two objects were made on the cusp of jiaqing and qianlong, it would make sense.

The jar at 18:10 is dot-matrix printed! Isn’t that a high price for a transfer printed piece??

The famille verte Rouleau vase is incredible. Its potting, shape and proportions are flawless. And I like the broad diagonals of the image, which contrast nicely with the staid form of the vase. From what I can see, this is a museum piece.

Beijing government imposes tighter and tighter restrictions for wealthy mainland Chinese on how much ( above certain amount) and whether they are permitted to spend their foreign currency savings that were deposited in Chinese banks years ago. It’s not too surprising to see crazy bids for some phony items like these two bronzes. These people can be very creative and desperate on how to move their money out of the country legally in the name of saving Chinese treasures . At the same time, from recent top tier auctions happened in Hong Kong , you might have noticed these people have also bid certain modern/contemporary Chinese paintings to some ridiculous high prices for exactly the same reason. Sad

Thanks so much Peter. By the way, on Tuesday I sent a Preview Assistant Request re: a buy-it-now Kutani vase on eBay, which I ended up buying, but I would still like to know your thoughts. I didn’t receive the usual confirmation notice from your site, but I did pay through PayPal, so maybe there was an issue? Thanks for any help with this!

Oops, Peter, I rechecked, and I sent that PA request on Wednesday. Thanks so much for your reply and comments about the vase!
