Not sure where you get yours, but at every buffet I've ever been to, the shrimp is tempura before being tossed in the glaze.

Looks so good. My mother and I always load up on coconut shrimp at the Chinese restaurants bc it's amazing. I am going to try this tomorrow and if it's as good as it looks I have a feeling my mother will have me cooking it everyday lol! And we love Mayo as well so that's a plus

I've never seen a recipe like this -- the condensed milk made me do a double take. Very interesting. I'm sure it's delicious. :) Have a great day, UB -- and thanks for sharing.

Thanks for stopping by my kitchen again. The condensed milk adds the sweetness found in this dish as well as acts as a thickening agent. You should give it a try! You have a great day as well. Happy Cooking, UB

Am I correct in assuming this is a low carb recipe?? It looks all the carbs pretty much come from the 2 tbsp condensed milk

That's a great question. I'm sorry to say that I haven't gone over the nutritional values for my recipes. They are all based on creating great tasting dishes! Happy cooking, UB

I love this dish so much. I am actually going to make it in 2 weeks I’m super excited. Just a question to confirm you take the tail off of the shrimp? Also if i needed more of the sauce can I just double or triple it and cook it all at once if I have a big enough pan? Look forward to this. Thanks
@UncleBillsKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dawn, Thanks for stopping by my kitchen. I am so happy that you will be making this soon. Yes, I do remove the tail. I find it ensures your not going to get a small peace of one stuck in your teeth :) As for the sauce, I can't see any reason that you couldn't make larger batches. You just have to keep an eye on it to ensure you get the desired thickness and not a paste. If that happens, just add a little milk to loosen it up. Happy cooking and come back soon! UB

Hahah, this is an American Chinese dish. I almost never saw butter used when I lived in Asia. Nor did I ever see anyone make this. That said, it’s popular here in the states

Just attempted to make this. Followed the recipe precisely. This isn't anywhere close to the coconut shrimp I get at any Chinese place. I had to turn it into curry.

Sorry to hear that you didn't get the results you were looking for. I can only speak for the creamy coconut shrimp I get around my home.
