Couple of things we missed in the video: 1. We did add a Smoke/CO detector very close to where the heater is installed. It’s a must! 2. The fuel pump and the fuel filter are installed inside the vehicle (as opposed to installing it outside) as we weren’t sure of the quality of these parts and their longevity when exposed to the elements. 3. Therefore the ticking noise from the fuel pump might be a little loud. It was for us in the beginning, but we got used to it and it’s just white noise now 😄

Excellent video... I have had my Chinese Diesel heater for about a year and a half and it's Fantastic.... I installed mine in an old 1982 Chevy Cube van that I converted into an RV... I have a 15 gallon Plastic barrel for a fuel tank... and during the cold months I use about 3 gallons of diesel fuel per week... the rest of the year I can get away with 1 fill up of my 15 gallon tank ! I am getting a (new for me ) 2006 Hummer H3 tomorrow and looking for creative places that I might mount the 2nd Chinese Air Heater that I bought last year also... both for under $100.00 each. Can't beat these little heaters Liked/Subscribed !

The H3 has a rear vent in the center of the rear door. Might be a good location.

A couple words of caution: 1. If you keep your fuel pump mounted horizontally, it will wear out very early. The fuel pump action causes cavitation and creates air bubbles. When the unit is mounted sideways, the air bubbles get trapped and the upper section of the fuel pump will get warn out because there is no diesel fuel lubricating the cylinder wall. It should be mounted at about a 45 degree or higher angle to let the air bubbles escape. They will go into the burn chamber and add oxygen to the burn. 2. Ensure the fuel pump has no hard mount. It should be suspended or rubber mounted. This will greatly lessen the noise of the fuel pump piston which can be quite annoying. 3. I'm also a little concerned about the number of turns you have in the exhaust pipe. Too many angles and you'll get backpressure build-up that causes a dirty burn and carbon build up in the heater unit. It was nice to see your installation process. I hope you find this feedback helpful. When installed correctly, these units will last for many years.

I like the idea. One big caution note. If you haven't yet, install a combo smoke and carbon monoxide detector somewhere inside the vehicle, preferably as close to the heater as possible. CO can kill you in your sleep and you'll never know its there.
@charlietoner4 жыл бұрын
They did... I made sure they had one when we installed it.... I asked the question but they didn’t get a chance to answer. Limited internet where they are
@AldoandDarsh4 жыл бұрын
Frontier Geek Oh ya Charlie’s right. We did install one just above the heater on day one 👍🏽 We also have both of our back windows open just a little bit for ventilation. But ya a detector is a must. Thanks for reminding 😊

This is awesome! I have a similar bed setup in my JK wrangler and have been contemplating a heater for the winter season. Very clean routing of the exhaust and the fuel line that you figured out! Have you had any issues with the tank of diesel sitting outside the vehicle in very cold temperatures? I know diesel can start to gel around 15 F and cause problems for pumps.
@AldoandDarsh3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Matthew! We were worried about the diesel as well. But we never had any issues throughout our trip for some reason. Even when it was -27 when we were in Quebec, it just stayed liquid. Miracle 😃

As long as you find a place to mount it and let the exhaust out, it should be doable.

Don't it overheating close to the door
@AldoandDarshАй бұрын
No it never did. 2 reasons: one, we had it heavily insulated. Two, there's plenty of space and holes in that area for heat to dissipate.

Hi i have tje exact same heater as you its fully adjustable and you can set it to max out at 2kw if you want. Webboth actually have the only one that ar 1 to 5 kw so adjustable in the secret settings i can help you do it takes 2 min to do. My heater is in a car set to 2kw max so awesome
@AldoandDarsh3 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome Jonathan!! We would love to know how that’s done 😍
@jasonmorehouse37563 жыл бұрын
that is not an adjustable setting. it is based on the size of the heatsink. yes you can run it at a low output, essentially the same as 2kw max output, but it will have excessive carbon build up inside, requiring more frequant cleaning.

One question I think might come up; Have you experienced any fuel smells or fumes with the heater running? Also what safety precautions have you taken? (and I type this while Kane is snoring beside me......)
@AldoandDarsh4 жыл бұрын
Charlie Toner No fuel smells so far as we check the fuel line at least once a week. The exhaust is tucked away nicely outside so chances of fumes getting in are minimal. But we do have a CO detector installed very close to where the heater is installed. How’s that for an answer? 😄

@Spencer Phelps I only asked the question to hi-light the idea of personal safety. I fully agree with personal safety on every level.
@charlietoner4 жыл бұрын
@Spencer Phelps yes. Having been a firefighter myself, as long as they are current and functional. Test regularly before each major trip to make sure they work.
@charlietoner4 жыл бұрын
@Spencer Phelps a mild headache is often a first sign of CO poisoning. If going outside relieves this condition, immediately shut down heating sources and ventilate the camper. With current heaters and regulations it is often rare for a CO poisoning but knowing the signs and symptoms is only a response. I applaud your vigilance. In my personal overland experience, a fresh ventilation of outside air is always the best Defense. And I sleep better with a little cold air. Focus on proper protection from sub-zero temps with the right sleeping bag. Heat is a luxury for most applications. Be smart and keep everything working properly. If you are alone be smart. If you are with family, always have a plan and education to keep everyone safe. We are here to experience all that the amazing world has to offer, and personal safety and well-being is part of that.
@thomasmargis98083 жыл бұрын
You put the mounting plate on the wrong site! It has to fit directly under the heater with its rubber sealing. Tbe way you did it, its not sealed at all! Could be a dangerous thing...
@jasonmorehouse37563 жыл бұрын
you are incorrect abot amazon heaters . a 2 kw is 2kw, and can be verified by its smaller dimensions . 5kw and 8kw are actually all 5kw. your exhaust pipe length is too long for stock size, excessive carbon build up will need to be cleaned more often
@davidwood21323 жыл бұрын
