People always claim this, yet the absolute most efficient ICE production engines in the world today are made by Geely and BYD (yes that BYD) which power the massive PHEV sales boom going on in China today, and will soon flood international markets as the death knell for pure ICE vehicles. Chinese carmakers might not have performance ICE tech down, but they are at leading positions on mass market ICE tech, particularly pertaining to fuel efficiency. It is just that they are even farther ahead on EV tech, especially on the scale and supply chain side. But make no mistake, it probably won't be Chinese BEVs that really put the screws on traditional western carmakers, but rather their industry leading PHEVs.

@tren1332 ай бұрын
@@AprezaRenaldy Perhaps, but pure ICE vehicles is literally an end of life product at this point. BEV is in the medium future, and PHEV/EREVs are the near term bridge towards that BEV future 20 or 30 years down the line. And China is in the drivers seat for both PHEV and BEVs. If the Japanese automakers want to continue to cling on to making pure ICE vehicles (corollary is if the American automakers want to continue to cling on to making pure ICE trucks and massive SUVs), then their descent into irrelevance and/or insolvency will only be further accelerated. They can struggle along in their home markets so long as their governments are willing to use tax dollars and tariff walls to keep propping them up, but the Chinese PHEVs are coming for them in any and every international market across the world, and they have no competitive models that can respond to that coming tidal wave of Chinese plug in vehicles.
