A cheap but relatively good Chinese hand crank generator/power supply with two USB and two positive/negative terminals.
You can cap the voltage output using a switch to prevent damage to electronics.

Nice bit of kit. As mentioned I bought one recently. I'm thinking of modifying it by adding a longer crank handle, making it much easier to use. The short handle is the major drawback I think. I'd also bolt it down to a table, again making it much easier to use. Good video.

Cheers, yeah bigger crank equals more leverage.

now, remove the crank handle, add big gear, connect it to your bike and you're good to go ;) . i did something similar and for what's worth it works just fine . far easier to pedal than hand crank too ;) . does anyone know the type of DC motor this device use? and i wouldnt mid seeing current output too ;)

one really good thing about this style of generator is that you can utilize these to maintain power as well as make higher outputs. if you have a little bit of mechanical knowhow you can rig up a bike to this to make a constant power source. and as usually these are intended for emergency situations. no one will use this as their primary source of stored energy. or i would hope not.

I bought one as a primary source.. for a just in case scenario. So if the power grid goes down I'll have this and about 4 solar chargers😂 I'm on a budget and cannot afford large panels etc. So I guess I'll have some pretty big forearms😂

Awesome! Had one of these little generators for quite a while; works but is slow. Am currently considering one of the paddle bike ones that can crank out 100We. You get good leg exercise and cardio and get the money you spent on food back in the form of electrical power.

Nice little device...I bet you could rig that up to harness power from wind with a propeller

I know you might not reply but im wondering if you take off the crank handle add some sort of propeller to it and take it to a nearby stream so it could be hydro crannked generator?

Neat that it initially works well, and to see the principles in action, but I'm not sure how practical it is for such a bulky device; I imagine you generated less than 1 Watt-hour during this demonstration. I also wonder how durable it would be for multiple hours of cranking, and whether it would overheat.

I would imagine the time needed to output enough mAh would make this fairly impractical for anything that needs more than say 30 minutes of charge to be used, small flashlights, emergency call on a phone etc. For charging a power bank I would want a bicycle based generator, and add weight to the wheel (balanced of course) to create a flywheel so you lose less momentum if you rest your legs for a few seconds, would be a good project come to think of it
@ApocGuy

yep, and if you pair it with good charge controller you can get decent charger system for S HTF ;)

It would be cool to make a small wind turbine out of it and put it in your yard (but it doesnt look too water resistant)

What is the current output from a 5v and 9v?
@bryngerard4334
@bryngerard4334 2 жыл бұрын
The total potential output is 20w. It is fairly easy to generate 5v 2amps, which is 10watts. You have to really crank it to get the full 20watts. Theoretically this device can generate 24v but it is regulated to provide a more constant output. I have seen these fitted with Super Capacitors that replace the capitor in it and you can run things for quite some time for only a few cranks.

sarebbe più interessante se fosse applicato ad un sistema a gravitazione: un orologio che facendo scendere un peso, per 10 minuti, ricaricasse la batteria. Comunque complimenti.

That would not work. The magnetic resistance would overcome the machine cranking the generator. If you were right it would have been thought of already and used

I'm pretty sure that perpetual motion still violates the laws of thermodynamics. Maybe you could insert the crank into a cat with a slice of buttered toast strapped to its back... but that probably violates some laws too.
