chiupo lini Check your own history carefully there was no nation called China before 1912.
@chiupolini
@chiupolini 8 жыл бұрын
+Kochigachi As a proper name for a nation under the western notion, I think you are right. But the term China has been there for eon years to describe the political entity which was made up by the people who lived under Chinese culture. So as a term in describing a country set up by the Chinese has been long in existence. It is a common name, but not a formal name. ) When you are describing a war between China and other countries during the Qing period, the common term used is Sino-Japanese war, or Sino-British war. Only the Japanese use the term Qing-Japanese war. Chinese use China-Japanese war. They all mean the same thing. Why try to correct others when you are not more correct than others?
@KingofKpop
@KingofKpop 8 жыл бұрын
chiupo lini Zhoung-guo is not China, the name China was originally referring to Cina which was Khitan. The Westerners who came to China at the time was when Khitan ruled Northern China. You're referring to central plain of China where middle of Yellow river, and many people who came and went, and it wasn't properly like "Chinese" nation today. If Mongol was still at Yellow river then their state would have called China by Westerners. Your China today is very modern nation which was formed after Xinhai revolution. Go to any University academic and ask them if "China" existed before 1912, they probably will say Chinese civilization not nation. Please don't mix up with ancient civilization and modern nation. Do you think Japan was existed before 18th century? No. You see almost all nationality that exists today only started appeared less than 1,000 yrs ago. Chinese weren't like Chinese today, it's not the same thing anymore. People often get upset over "origin" and "ethnic" question. It's not same. So called Han Chinese is pretty new compared to their neighboring people around China.

Very well explained but China history goes way deeper than this. The warring kingdom (the 7countries at war) could be detailed to write books. And three kingdom has two versions of literature. A historical version and a literary novel known as 三國演義 which is one of the four Chinese classics. And also wei did not conquered all three. It was jin which conquered wu.

China was once like europe, ancient india or africa, it consists of many different races and kingdoms, they spoke different languages and have difference culture. but too many war throughout history have made china "united". the major races were han, mongol, manchurian, tibetian and many others. today we can't tell who is who, all simply refer as "chinese". Example if Nazi Germany were to rule all of europe for 100 years, all other languages were banned except german... today all europeans will be call german too.

@josephholoien

+BloodClaws this is very inaccurate.... The Roman Empire ruled over almost all of Europe. All Europeans collectively at one time have never been refered to as Romans. China consisted of different Kingdoms yes, but these states were simply places of power and not always at war. There are no "major races." There are Chinese people and outter nomadic tribes. There had been a lot of trade and diversity in the Han and T'ang dynasties, but the diversity wasn't some equal spread of many different people. The vast majority in large Chinese cities like Chang'an (modern Xi'an) and Beijing were the Chinese people. Today, many Chinese people still know where they originated from because of their surnames. People are refered to as Chinese if they were born in the land, just as an asian born in American is technically considered an American (even though people may call him Chinese). The Mongol man born in China is a Chinese, but if some know his surname they may refer to him as a mongol. We have many identities in the contemporary age and it is important to know them well so that we may understand the struggle of our ancestors. China, the country, is not 'like Europe,' nor is the land similar; rather you could say that the people in ancient China had developed into different kingdoms and dynasties much like the way that Europeans had developed into different kingdoms and monarchies (maybe) during their medieval age.

In China two thousand years ago in history books, Chinese people are a ancestors. The first dynasty of China there are a lot of countries, the owners of these countries was a relative of the dynasty rulers. They want to maintain the relationship of the country. Manchu, Mongolian. These people appear time late, but their ancestors and han belong to one of the earliest ancestor. China every dynasty recorded a a dynastic history as a heritage.

vidyut Actually, Tibet was included in China only after 1959. Tibet was never conquered by China/Chinese. It was captured by Mongols "Yuan". Look at map. 8:19 After the Mongol yuan dynasty.. China was ruled by a native chinese dynasty. This chinese dynasty was called Ming dynasty. Look at map. 9:22 Compare 8:19 and 9:22 That huge chunk of land in the 9:22 map... to the SouthWest of China(outside China) is where Tibet is. After Ming dynasty, China was again invaded by a Foreign peoples. The Manchus from Manchuria. This Manchu dynasty was called "Qing". Look at map. 10:37 It is generally accepted that Tibet was never a part of "China". It was a part of Mongolia "Yuan", and Manchuria "Qing". The chinese government and it's people claim that Tibet has been a part of China since the 13th century... during "Yuan". But the truth is, during "Yuan" period... China itself was part of the Mongolian Empire. Same with Manchurian Empire "Qing". Tibet has been part of Mongolian Empire and Manchurian Empire... but it has never been a part of any native Chinese dynasty. Claiming that Tibet was a part of China, because they were both ruled by Mongols and Manchus.... is like saying America is a part of India because they were both ruled by the British. Tibet was however invaded in 1959 and captured by the CCP. And tibetan people have been protesting ever since. History books have been subject to modification within China. And many people there are fully convinced that Tibet was a part of China before 1959. Look at all the maps of the dynasties, and Tibet is only included in the two where China itself was ruled by Foreign people. "Yuan"/Mongolia and "Qing"/Manchuria. I hope this helps.

urmed khongor there are no such thing as mongolia empire yuan dynasty is a chinese the ruler is ethnic mongolian due to their chineseness, they had strong argument with other mongol kingdom qing dynasty is a chinese the ruler is ethnic manchu they call themselves as CHINA in the treaty signed with british tibet has been part of china since yuan dynasty tibet dont have a king, emperor. tibet is ruled by monk tibet is a theocracy society. but they are under the sovereignty of CHINA, yuan dynasty. when ming dynasty toppled yuan dynasty ming dynasty adopted similar apporach to tibet because they dont want " any rebellion" any change might resulted in rebellion' they give title to dalai lama, monk. during ming rule, there are not king, emperor in tibet. because there are only one emperor in dynasty - beijing.

Chinese don't call themselves Chinese. They call themselves Hans. Chu Kingdom was a Hmong kingdom not Hans. The Han Empire was founded by Liu Bang a Chu citizen. Han Empire is a Hmong Dynasty not Hans. We Hmong people have fought the Hans for thousand of years. Both are history go way back the war of Chi You (First Hmong King) and The Yellow Emperor (Han King) We Hmong people lost many wars in China and was prosecuted. The Hmong people were hunted and kill like animals because we didn't want to be control by the Hans. We couldn't write or speak or native language or we would be kill. We wrote are language into are clothes. Hans thought it's was just design.

King Chi You (Txiv Yawg) also call The God of War is the ancestor of the San Miao also known as the Hmong People. Leader of the Nine Li Tribe. Hes part of the Dongyi or Eastern Yi culture. One of the oldest neolithic cultures in China. The Hmong People once rule China in the ancient times. Chi You founded the Jiu Li Kingdom in eastern China comprising 9 clans and 81 subgroups. Chi You defeated the Yan Emperor (Yandi) The Yan Emperor went and got help from the Yellow Emperor (Huangdi) and defeated Chi You in the Battle of Zhuolu in 2698 b.c. The Yellow Emperor is the ancestor of the Huaxia Chinese also known today as Han Chinese. Once the Hmong lost the war they went south and formed the San-Miao Kingdoms and was once again defeated by Emperor Yu of The Xia Dynasty in 2247 b.c. After losing the war they migrated south to Hubei Province and became the Hmong Wuxi then King Xiong Yi founded State of Chu (Kingdom of Chu) but alot of historian says Xiong Yi is a descendant of the Yellow Emperor which is false. Who ever has the last names of the Hmong 18 clan is Hmong not Han Chinese! 1. Chang (Cha) 2. Cheng 3. Chue (Chu) 4. Fang 5. Hang 6. Her (Herr or Heu)  7. Khang  8. Kong 9. Kue 10. Lee (Le or Ly) 11. Lor (Lo) 12. Moua (Mua) 13. Pha 14. Thao (Thor), 15. Vang (Va), 16. Vue (Vu) 17. Xiong 18. Yang (Ya)

You know, for anyone who wanted to give a brief history of a 5000 year of recorded history, repeat recorded because recorded in the sense that it gave little or NO ambiguity of historical facts, you have done a tremendous job, bravo In just 20 minutes, it is extraordinary. I am a Canadian of Chinese descend and I am really appreciative of what you have done to enlighten the non Chinese about their history. I have been wanting to do that but I could not have done it better and definitely NOT in that allocated time frame. I always tend to dwell into greater details subconciously. For a foreigner as your name suggests, your pronounciation is spot on and one of the best if not the best for a non-Chinese, and with a Chinese modulation too. Thanks Christ

This is great video for brief introduction to China history. But actually there are several mistakes in it. One very obvious case is that LI Zicheng , who overthrow the Ming dynasty, was from south west not north east. Then he was beaten by the Man nationality, who were actually from the north east. After this, the Man nationality established the Qing dynasty and controlled China until 1912.

This is a glossed over history from a biased English view point. Any reasonable person viewing say the Opium Trade and wars must rank it as one of the greatest crimes against humanity ever. The scale of this trade was so enormous, more ships involved than in the Royal Navy of the day.
