Basically, Japan relation with China not so good is because of the incident happen in WW2. Its just happen about 70 years ago and mostly our parent/grandparent are in that era so they still cant let it go yet. I believe in future when it come to younger generation, the relation will be better. For what happen in the past, just let it be. We gain nothing if we keep hold it up. We just have to bear in mind not to let anything like this happen again. That's it. Btw, im Malaysian Chinese

I think most of the younger generation of Chinese who have the ability to travel around the world can see the world with their own eyes and not rely on the state controlled media. I hope this is the beginning of a better relationship between the Japanese and the Chinese.

+Jügren van der Kaas I hope so too, because not only The Chinese Government but The Japanese Government which is a puppet of The Criminal Underworld as well as being made up of Ultranationalist who are the grandchildren of war criminals who believes that Nanking and Unit 731 at Harbin is a lie made up by China to make Japan look bad, but yeah The Chinese Government is made up by Commies who don't believe in human rights. The point is the people from China and Japan can get along it is their governments that are the problems.

If you are implying that the animosity between the Chinese against the Japanese is because of state controlled media, I'd suggest that you are misinformed. You see parallels of anti-Japanese sentiment amongst the Koreans and those who lived under the Japanese Empire. That said, I recommend the state controlled CCTV. It has plenty of quality programmes, some subbed in not so perfect but good enough English. 百家讲坛 is one of them.

Thank you for this! So many youtube videos are of western foreigners (like myself) in Tokyo or surrounding areas. It's incredibly great to get Chinese perspective on actually living or visiting there given their respective histories. I know the governments of countries don't always properly address their histories (Japan to China) however I'm optimistic of a positive future for the region between the two countries with more direct interactions of the people. We can all learn so much from each other, and as a westerner there's so many positive things I see in both Chinese and Japanese that I truly hope that these two nations can really form a close relationship someday, at the same time I understand the importance of addressing the history of nations. If all the powerhouse nations in Asia joined together somehow eventually it would be absolutely incredible!

From what I know, and I hope I'm not stereotyping here, is that the Chinese are usually louder, sometimes rude and don't afraid to speak their mind and use profanity. The Japanese, on the other hand, are very quiet in public, very polite, hide away their true feelings and the harshest curse word in Japanese is "you're lazy".

Japanese are pretty well mannered. But doesn't seems sincere most of the time. Is just like they are doing by the book and nothing more. There's no inner feeling in it. I can understand and perceive their politeness, but I can't feel it deep inside. It's mechanical, like when you say "excuse me", but you're just doing it because you was taught to do that at specific occasions. But differently from most of Westerners I've met, Japanese does this "mechanical behaviour" all the time, in every situation. It's not bad, it's good to be treated with respect, but sometimes it feels artificial to say the least. Like something to show up. Chinese people in another hand, were much more open to be sincere when talking to me. If they didn't like me, I can feel that, they don't try to be all polite and start to "fake" their feels towards me. Although that, I find a lot of Chinese which were as polite as any Japanese (or any other person around the World). I think in China's case is something more related to the gap of education and information which still exists there, whereas Japan already could be considered a country with 99% of the population well educated and informed. I just need to add, that old people in Japan, are in general pretty rude, actually I would say their rudeness towards others, not only foreigners as well younger Japanese, is very similar to that from some Chinese. Of course, this is just my opinion as a foreigner in Japan (and some years ago in China), and not all of them, there's always exceptions. Besides the people themselves, Japan has a better quality of life, is a very clean country and Japanese goods are very reliable. Not saying Chinese things or China are bad, but they're still developing their way into the new century, I don't blame them to have been isolated and ruled by a dictatorship for decades before open themselves to the World.

+Marcus de Alcântara Yea no doubt the older people in Japan are pretty nasty. I can name two occasions when I was there. 1) I was taking some pictures in Asakusa and then this old lady accused me of taking pictures of her store which wasn't anything special. She freaked the hell out on me. 2) I bumped this granny by accident and then apologized but she still gave me a death stare. I will never forget the looks on these people's faces. What miserable people they must be.

I've been in China and in Japan, while they're very different in their etiquette, I really can't say one is better or worse than the other. I found the Chinese to be very direct and maybe a little inconsiderate towards others but this isn't always a bad thing, I've also found them to be generous and caring. I've found many negative things in Japanese culture, such as the shade people give you if you step out of line, it's a very constraining and a somewhat overbearing society. Anyway I'm not here to bad mouth the Japanese (I'm Japanese myself) I just want to say that no culture is perfect and deep down we're all the same. So for all the people hating on China why don't you go there make some Chinese friends and stop hating. Peace & Love!

I'm actually surprised not to see one negative opinion. If you go to China and ask the people on the street the same question then the answers will be lot different. One reason is people don't have money to visit other countries probably less happy and angry at something or somebody most likely to the ones the government give to them. Another is to people stay in the country are much less interested in finding out the different ways of looking at things. From what I heard, the hatred towards Japanese didn't exist as much before the Tienanmen Square incident. After that, the government started pushing the idea to turn the people's anger to elsewhere. After all, the government never tells the fact that Mao and the party killed many times more of their own people than Japanese did in Nanking.

Shihao Li says: "if you ask someone at like 40 or 50 for their opinions, you can get totally different answers." == That kinda confirms my point. That age, 13-23 when the Tienanmen Square protest broke out, are the demography most subjected to the government propaganda after the incident. I'm curious to find out the opinions of the older generation than 40-50 of age, since the most of generation of people who were already grown up when the Nanking massacre took place and saw it first hand are gone. another thing, they are in Japan. If they have hostile feeling toward Japan and people of Japan, they probably don't go to Japan in the first place. They probably prefer to see other places.

On the hand, the Japanese society on the whole is highly advanced, and it preserved its traditional culture very well. The Confucian culture and Tang style architecture, which people don't see in China nowadays can still be found in Japan. On the other hand, the fact that it invaded China during the Second World War and killed millions of people still haunts me. The most important thing is that they never genuinely apologized.

Japanese are generally more friendlier to tourist than many other Asian nations. Even if you're a non-japanese Asain tourist. Koreans though may be discriminated more than Chinese tourist though. I wouldn't come to Japan if I was south or north Korean. South Korea is also not a great place to travel to if you're not also Korean. You will find South Korea to be extremely isolated and in worser condition than Japan for tourism. Streets are dirtier and people there are rude, especially the older people.

Japan is so much more superior than China in most of the aspects that they mentioned. Even so, many seemed to belittle this and say that there is not much difference or that it is only better by a little and they seemed reluctant even so. When I go to China, it's disgustingly dirty, it's so loud I can't hear myself, I get sick from the air pollution (as many others do), and I never buy anything expensive because I feel like it will be fake or defective. Not to mention the groceries that I buy also seem fake (GMO/chock full of chemicals). People try to sell you rotten products as well and cheat you. Restaurant food is dirty. People are rude and loud in a vulgar way. The government tries to sell that China is the best thing ever in order to keep everyone proud and happy with the government.

Better stick to your mangas and anime then fat girl, the Chinese have modernized faster than every country in the world and your children's generation will look up to them as the preeminent nation on earth.
@ZhangK71
@ZhangK71 7 жыл бұрын
A lot of what you say are based off real flaws of China -- as a reasonable Chinese guy, I'll give you that -- but the rest, the vast majority, is just based off of ignorance and, I sense, a little bit of "salt". (The fact that you used that one particular trivial incident of someone calling you fat as something that affected your evaluation as much as things that are way more significant makes me believe that you may be a bit triggered by people calling you out on your fat ass, but hey, "body positivity", right?) China literally went from the same level as North Korea (almost literally; not too much of an exaggeration) to rising superpower and 2nd biggest influencer in the world within 40 years. That has something that even the most ardent but educated anti-communist would have to acknowledge (and do acknowledge) as something that is so impressive that it has literally never been done before in world history -- mainly because it was caused by China stepping away from true communism, but that's not really relevant in this conversation. Japan took 50 years to get to respectability -- a point of modernization similar to China right after Mao died, another 30 years to be able to last 3 years in a war against the U.S., but still was not a true global superpower after 80 years of modernization. But hey, let's overlook the historical context, right? What do you think would happen -- what do you think would truly happen -- if the U.S. was given 40 years to develop after 1776 then judged by a lady who got triggered by how the Yankees called her fat? And speaking of the government, you do realize that it is in the government's best interest to keep improving the country, yet you're here acting as if they're not doing anything to improve... You really know nothing about a country speaking from and based on your previous experiences living in countries that have had the privilege of having decades if not centuries of head-start versus the Chinese. Go back to 1979, when China first started earnest modernization, and look at some of its contemporaneous neighbors like India and Vietnam. Now, come back to 2017 and tell me you still want to talk about something that you don't know the full perspective of. You're acting as if China had a thousand years to develop to the West while the West waited for it. You're acting as if, in the 40 years that it did have, it didn't exceed modernization at rates far more impressive than its neighbors which had been previously on its same level 40 years ago.

Japanese people are usually very polite, welcoming and kind, but in return they get hate.. The past is the past! The Japanese people get hate because of their history and government, but that was a long time ago.. It isn't fair for the Japanese to get stereotyped because of their past, not all Japanese are what they used to be, once you go, I guarantee that you would change your mind about them. You really can't judge a person by just being "polite and courteous". Not that being polite and courteous is a bad thing or anyting but it could be just a culture and not a true reflection on their human nature and righteousness. Someone could be just "acting" very polite and have "good manner" outside to strangers not because they want to but rather simply acting out according to their cultural norms like in Japan. I have been told by many many foreigners that Japanese are"back stabbers" and "phony". Pretending to be polite and courteous but very different inside. Personally, I tend to judge someone when a person goes out of their way and help in times of both good and bad. A someone who is morally righteous and humble and treat people with respect and kindness no matter who they are. I am afraid not all but many japanese are fake and phony. Honestly, I know because I had lived and worked in Japan for many years. But I don't hate them. They are just being who they are in their culture. There are also many cultures like that. Peace^^

I don't think culture is something to compare. How can we say some behaviours are disrespectful if the rules of each country are so different. Above all how can we classify that something is better than the other if they are not the same. I live in Brazil and there are a lot of Japanese, Chinese and Koreans and their descendants living in the same city. It's funny because Brazilians can't say who is from each country. They usually say we are all alike. Japanese culture's origin is the Chinese. The writing is very similar. I would like to see more acceptance of the differences than competition. Love and peace from Brazil

(This is a really long comment, please click expand only if you are interested in reading a long chunk of text. OTL) Everyone has their own personal opinions and world views, but I'd like to make my point: There is history between China and Japan, and I recognise that there are issues regarding it. It may be because that I don't live in China so I don't understand that sort of feeling, but I don't think that the history should play a major role in recognising Japanese people individually, or Japan as a country. I personally believe that there shouldn't be a reason why views on Japanese people or Japan are affected because of history. History has nothing to do with the current people I have around me, or myself. I don't view it as important, and it's also a big barrier that would stop me from learning various things. I feel like it'd be like if I hated Germany because of Adolf Hitler. To make it a bit more extreme, for a clearer example, it'd be like if I didn't use Faber Castell because it is a German brand, because of Adolf Hitler. (Sorry, Germany, I actually love your stationary a lot - I have a whole 120 colour pencil set among various others from Faber Castell) Media is an important factor in affecting peoples' views, and the tendency of making preconceptions from overheard information before making confirmation of it is what stops the people from recognising and making valid judgements of the issue. I've heard about people from China holding negative feelings towards Japan, but changing their mindset once they had seen Japan for themselves. It was the same with my parents too. ^7^ It's a question of whether you are willing to be open-minded, think clearly, and question whether your thinking is valid or not. Because in the end, the one that loses out on knowing and learning, is you. Edit: I fixed my grammar, oops.

Be conscious of your time and don't spend a second of it living in the past. I am not Chinese or Japanese but my country knows of the hate between other countries coz of their past actions. It's bullshit really. We somehow happened to be born in this body accidentally and now we supposed to take some pointless things like our history that we personally didn't even experience and hurt our head with it as well as our mood lol. Why so serious? Like we all human beings and we do shit and we die sometimes. End of story. Fear nothing, Hold no grudge, and live in the moment.

The Chinese government really doesn't care what their citizens have to say about other countries while abroad if they do they wouldn't let millions of Chinese travel around the world. Their experience abroad will eventually help improve the Chinese society, a change that the younger generation will help achieve. The Chinese government encourages, exchanges, and people to study abroad or travel for a reason.

I don't think China will conquer a territory that was not its territory in the past. Admiral Zheng He in the past was sent from the Ming dynasty to Southeast Asia for trade relations. They did not take over the territory they came to at all. On the contrary, when westerners came to Southeast Asia, they tried to conquer, plunder, take over and colonize the territory they came to. China is different from the west.
