As far as I know, the current relative passing speed record belongs to Japan's maglevs MLX01: 1,026 km/h (638 mph) in November 2004. Since then no other passing speed record breaking tests maglev+maglev were done.

I took this train in Shanghai. The sound the train made when arriving to the station was absolutely epic, a deep permeating humming sound. Still one of my favorite sounds I've ever heard.
@bieneulm19822 жыл бұрын
That humming is caused by the magnetic regulation units underneath the train, that, in order to hover on the railway (which is the actual engine of the train), have to vibrate a few thousand times a second to match the 50/60hz electric current, to not to come in contact with the rail and stator packages underneath it (this humming is caused by the generation of a rift of air inbetween train and track of precisely 10mm) If you know one of the Germans loosely that engineered this technology and the train seen in the video, you get to have such scientifical background knowledge. We would like to have that sound back we´re it originated from: In Germany, were tracks had been planned for nearly 2 decades and 9 train models where build. The eighth model of them can be seen in this video, it has been renamed to Shanghai SMT.

The US is far too sparsely populated for a high speed rail network. It's no coincidence that the only high speed track in the country connects the highly dense urban areas between Washington DC and Boston (Baltimore, Philadelphia, NYC, New Haven and Providence are all along the line)

Chinese have the longest route of bullet train.. More than the whole worlds combined.. But america doesnt have one.. Maybe because they dont need one or your politics is shit.. In china work gets completed in no time dur to communism..
@darnit19445 жыл бұрын
@@princevegeta3859 That's the nature of one party state. If the party confirms it, it will be done. America is a democratic country with different parties, so expect beaurocracy within their government. Also, the US has no interest in creating high speed trains. They are mostly dependant on short range flight, which is much cheaper. This is due to geography. American big cities are mostly far from each other, Dallas, Chicago, DC, NYC, they are all far from each other, sepparated by difficult terrains. China however, concentrated their big cities on the east side, while their west side is mostly underdeveloped.

Theoretical maximum speed of a Maglev train with external boost is only 700+ km/h in air. But this needs additional way to boost itself other than the magnets. But Maglev only, maximum is 550-600 km/h. Though, adding both trains speed therefore the wind and the speed will look like 700 km/h

Something I noticed....see how the windows, doors, gaps between the train carriages are curved? That's an illusion because the train is moving so fast and the camera doesn't have enough frame rates (I think?) to process it. In reality the windows, doors are just plain rectangles.

to anyone who tends to confuse the metric kilometer per hour with the imperial mile per hour... (700 kph is 434 mph). keep in mind the world record holder is the japanese maglev at 602 kph (374 mph). so i doubt it was going 434 mph (700 kph) but still it's going so god damn fast that the passengers probably missed their next birthdays
