They’ll never show troops trying to return accurate fire when you haven’t slept in 2 days, the smell of your buddy (and yourself) because you haven’t washed in a few days…the feel of that first hot shower, that first hot meal sitting inside at a real table…

Rotating experienced troops back home to train new guys is CRUCIAL. We did this during WW2 and it’s how you spread battlefield experience around your army quickly. The Japanese kept their most experienced soldiers at the front, believing they were too valuable to be pulled and as a result, the experience those units gained died with them, never passed on to other units or new recruits.
@clippy-v4q
@clippy-v4q 16 күн бұрын
This is kind of a myth, in WW2 the US used the infantry replacement system and most regiments and troops did not get rotated out, they stayed at the front until the end of the war. This is why in movies you always see the new guys joining the squad, it was a very wasteful way to use the manpower and cost a lot of lives, especially of veteran troops who had to carry for the newbies lack of experience. Hollywood has a lot to answer for and covered up a lot of the mismanagement of the war.

@@clippy-v4q Grunts may not have been rotated back to the US on a regular basis but veteran pilots were. It's because the Germans and the Japanese didn't was why they started to run out of out experienced pilots after a while. In some cases, these pilots had years of experience with some Luftwaffe pilots cutting their teeth and getting their first kills in the Spanish Civil War while the same applied to the Japanese pilots who had been flying since the invasion of Chian and other parts of Asia before they attacked Pearl Harbor. Even if the US didn't rotate grunts back stateside regularly, it did happen. John Basilone, after winning his Medal of Honor, was shipped back home to go on a war bond tour. After that was done. he was assigned to a training unit to pass on the lesson he learned to new Marines.

Im just a civilian. Used to want to enlist really badly, but never did. Thank god. Imagine fighting warfare in the drone era. They can see your every move, they can drop bombs on you without you knowing theyre coming. Hell, even if you know theyre coming, good luck shooting a drone out of the sky with a rifle when its flying at you to kamakaze. Let alone how they can help the artillery dial in. We should pray for tensions to ease, WW3 would be a nightmare for the entire planet. Especially us men.

They just haven’t caught up with drone warfare yet. You know those animal capture guns that shoot out nets? They got some big powerful ones with pretty big nets for large game and you can shoot them 30-50 feet. But even that might help if you have a drone hunting you. Anyway, someone just needs to develop those net guns. There’s just been no reason to develop them. But jamming signals, pinpoint EMP, net guns….there’s just a few ideas. But will they develop defensive weapons for drones? Who knows, these people seem to want our population to decrease.

As a 70's kid 5 km would be a warm up until the end of the day which included doing some abandoned strip pit bike ridding, a game of tackle football with no pads or helmet below the belt only and maybe some bologna and fig newtons for dinner at the end of the day. Most of the day was water after a morning bowl of cereal. We would have killed for a candy bar and some milk. Scrapes and cuts were routinely ignored until just before infection. Then we'd slap some iodine on it and play some board games at night. 70's rocked.

This isn’t the first time the USA has helped a country keep or even get their independence/freedom, of course you’ve lived your entire life in a safe first world country with hardly any worries, you couldn’t possibly comprehend the horrors innocent civilians are going Through there so it’s not surprising you fail to understand the importance of helping them but you should atleast learn history of USA before embarrassing yourself

@@African_crusader Spewing all this nonsense and talking about inteligence is a bit ironic. Soviet Union had ideology to spread, Rus has no such thing. Rus told decades ago that it will not allow Ukraine to be in NATO, yet US still kept pushing it. There needs to be a balance, while you are so concerned about Rus neighbours, you forget that Rus has its legitimate concerns as well, like being constantly invaded from the West throughout its history, you know. And lo and behold - the West is expanding anti-Rus allience, again. This disregard of Rus concerns is what started it. Rus did nothing bad to Ukraine prior to the 2014 coup. And please do be so kind and give an example what horrors civilians are suffering under Rus. Spoiler alert: there are none. Poor Iraqis on the other hand... oh well, the saint US can never do wrong. maximum 85 kg ~ 180lbs, with such a weight you need to walk 5-10 km through the forests to your position. In battle, depending on the mission, soldiers carry 20-30kg ~ 65lbs of additional equipment, a couple of grenades, 300-600 additional rounds, in addition to the main 120-240 rounds in 4-8 magazines. 1.5-2 liters of water. Well, first aid kits, all sorts of tourniquets, batteries, armor 8-15 kg, etc. That is, in battle, on average, a person together with armor, weapons, with a small supply of cartridges, etc. 40-45 kg ~ 100lbs. kg. If a grenade launcher, then 50-55 kg ~120lbs, if a machine gunner 50-60 kg ~130lbs

6:36 No, ultimately the average person hits a wall where they just become combat ineffective, you saw it in WWII, you saw it in Korea and Vietnam, you saw it with the Russians in Afghanistan, you saw it with the French in Algeria, there is more than enough evidence that you either need to properly rest and recuperate these dudes or need to find a way to keep them happy and motivated at the front, burning the guys at the front completely ultimately has a negative effect on the entire front, especially when your being told one thing and then you show up to a completely different thing.
