Rotating experienced troops back home to train new guys is CRUCIAL. We did this during WW2 and it’s how you spread battlefield experience around your army quickly. The Japanese kept their most experienced soldiers at the front, believing they were too valuable to be pulled and as a result, the experience those units gained died with them, never passed on to other units or new recruits.
@clippy-v4q16 күн бұрын
This is kind of a myth, in WW2 the US used the infantry replacement system and most regiments and troops did not get rotated out, they stayed at the front until the end of the war. This is why in movies you always see the new guys joining the squad, it was a very wasteful way to use the manpower and cost a lot of lives, especially of veteran troops who had to carry for the newbies lack of experience. Hollywood has a lot to answer for and covered up a lot of the mismanagement of the war.
@Andrei3DArt16 күн бұрын
You did precisely what you accuse Japanese of doing. Just learn what “Individual Replacement System” is. “Tours of Duty” were not established until 60s.
@Riceball0116 күн бұрын
@@clippy-v4q Grunts may not have been rotated back to the US on a regular basis but veteran pilots were. It's because the Germans and the Japanese didn't was why they started to run out of out experienced pilots after a while. In some cases, these pilots had years of experience with some Luftwaffe pilots cutting their teeth and getting their first kills in the Spanish Civil War while the same applied to the Japanese pilots who had been flying since the invasion of Chian and other parts of Asia before they attacked Pearl Harbor. Even if the US didn't rotate grunts back stateside regularly, it did happen. John Basilone, after winning his Medal of Honor, was shipped back home to go on a war bond tour. After that was done. he was assigned to a training unit to pass on the lesson he learned to new Marines.

Hell, even if you know theyre coming, good luck shooting a drone out of the sky with a rifle when its flying at you to kamakaze. Let alone how they can help the artillery dial in. They just haven’t caught up with drone warfare yet. You know those animal capture guns that shoot out nets? They got some big powerful ones with pretty big nets for large game and you can shoot them 30-50 feet. But even that might help if you have a drone hunting you. Anyway, someone just needs to develop those net guns. There’s just been no reason to develop them. But jamming signals, pinpoint EMP, net guns….there’s just a few ideas. But will they develop defensive weapons for drones? Who knows, these people seem to want our population to decrease.

@@staskozak8118Everyday = non issue Stressed = non issue Starving = viable issue Sleepless = viable if truly devoid of sleep Otherwise 16km is a joke for anyone legitimately fit. I’ve done 120 miles on a bicycle before & 40 miles on foot with a pack. Both through mountains humping gear. 16km at that fitness level would of been nothing even without food for 24-48 hrs. Would literally have to be on a starvation diet for that to become problematic.

Only if he had access to 3500 calories a day. Without enough food, walking any distance after combat is a struggle

@ BS. Roman soldiers were expected to do 20 miles, while carrying more gear, and construct a night camp. This guy is a prime example of how bad modern society & expected fitness has become.

just imagine sitting in trenches under heavy rain that make flood + nonstop artillery and sometimes aviabombs. You can get sick and die just from weather and stress even without wounds

They are fine sending other people's children to war. NIMBY's are common.

6:36 No, ultimately the average person hits a wall where they just become combat ineffective, you saw it in WWII, you saw it in Korea and Vietnam, you saw it with the Russians in Afghanistan, you saw it with the French in Algeria, there is more than enough evidence that you either need to properly rest and recuperate these dudes or need to find a way to keep them happy and motivated at the front, burning the guys at the front completely ultimately has a negative effect on the entire front, especially when your being told one thing and then you show up to a completely different thing.
@michaelmichaelagnew850311 күн бұрын
Thats probably a good accurate statement. In WW2 there was good rest between big battles but it wasn't like that in vietnam.

Back then we called it "Shell Shocked". Now it's PTSD.

Try Patrick Lancaster. He’s great. An American reporter who embeds with Russians and shows the truth of what’s happening, while also encouraging people to view the war from both sides not just to side with him.

Sorry, jsem z České republiky uprostřed Evropy a takto se na to nemůžu dívat. Rusáci naši zemi obsadili v roce 1968 a byli tu 20 let. Vrátili nás málem do středověku a celé mojí generaci trvalo od roku 1989 vrátit zemi do moderní doby. Jestli USA hodí Ukrajinu přes palubu, ztratí poslední kredit. Místo nesmyslných bojů v Afgánistánu a Iráku, kde demokracii nikdo nechtěl, podrazí zemi kde naopak chtějí do NATO a EU. Putler a komunisti z Číny zvítězí!

civ div is better, actual front line combat. Lancaster actively supports Russians and as Americans, we shouldnt engage with traitors.
@rreptile925214 күн бұрын
@ how does that make him a traitor? Why is Russia the bad guy? Why is Ukraine the good guy?
@rreptile925214 күн бұрын
@ it’s nato and americas fault this conflict started, from 1990 to now the west has antagonized Russia to such a great extent. Ukraine has never been the good guy until the Biden family got criminally involved with them.
@-Cipher--14 күн бұрын
@@rreptile9252 Because hes an American favoring a hostile nations foreign policy over his own. Why is Russia the bad guy? Thats a story that goes back to the early 2000s. But that doesnt matter cause even without that Id still fully support the US instead of being a parasite.
