I was in the Navy.Bootcamp was my favorite part of the Navy. I got a promotion the start of my third week. The guy I replaced flunked out. I was in great shape. The Company Commander really liked me and not sure what he saw in me but he took care of me. I never had to to the obstacle courses or go thru the CS gas house. The C.C.would always give me the easy days and stay behind and guard our barracks. When I got out in the fleet after A school I was put on the oldest ship in the U S Navy’s fleet. It was commissioned in 1939. I just realized joining the navy was the biggest mistake I ever made.

Ok so the actual definition of stolen valor (correct me if I’m wrong) to my knowledge is claiming you’re in the military when you are not. Wearing the uniform in the capacity to wear is not illegal but not respectful. If you are hunting, airsofting, or any activity that would make sense for it that fine, however wearing it for the capacity for personal gain is stolen valor. I can go to a surplus store and get a uniform easy. Now this is part factual part opinionated so please don’t flame me in the reply’s. (Sorry I am used to instagram unhinged). But to my knowledge it is calming you were in the military without being so. I am in MCJROTC so sometimes when I have to run an errand and don’t have time to change, I will always specify that I am not in service. I haven’t had an encounter simply because my uniform is correct per MC uniform, regulations 10.34H. I am hoping to serve so forgive me if my comment sounds uneducated. I am not defending these people I am more clarifying that to my knowledge that wearing a uniform in a capacity not for personal gain is not technically stolen valor.
