I rode a train out of Kunming pulled by the SS3 before, I thought it was very strange as a kid to see a train use overhead lines for power as I am more used seeing the DF4B

You can look at the speed-data of most chinese lines on the Open Railway Map. On this very steep line with many curves it is only 85 km/h. On most other lines 120-160 km/h

The SS4G (blue twin units) have a very characteristic scream! The SS3's do also to an extent, but the not like the SS4. They are very powerful machines indeed.
