Nice video Luke, but have to offer a slight correction. The “fly” in fly restaurants doesn’t refer to actual flies, but that the restaurant attracts customers like flies.

Ahhh. THE TOURISTS are the marks. I mean the flies…. I bet the real deal lies somewhere in the middle…
@nuo.not1033Ай бұрын
The name of Fly restaurant comes from Chengdu, which originally refers to those small restaurants with small shops, simple environment but affordable prices. These restaurants are usually located in every corner of the city, and although they are not beautifully decorated, they attract a large number of customers with their authentic taste and affordable prices. Fly restaurant is not a pejorative name, but a humorous self-mockery of Chengdu people, reflecting the local people's love and dependence on this kind of small restaurant. Don't mislead the audience!!

I noticed in his last couple vids that Luke's not wearing his Chopstick Travel shirt. I take that as a good indication that he cares more about the meals than about marketing.

Lol, that's not why they are called fly restaurants, while originally it was used as a description because of flies. Now it's just a term to describe little restaurants in alleyways and on the street, it does not mean there's flies around.

The term "fly restaurant" (or fly eatery, in Chinese: 苍蝇馆子, cāngyíng guǎnzi) is a colorful nickname used to describe small, often hidden, family-run restaurants in cities like Chengdu and Chongqing in China. These eateries are famous for their authentic and delicious food, despite their modest, sometimes scruffy appearances. Here's why they got the name "fly restaurant": 1. The "Fly" Metaphor The name doesn’t mean the restaurants are dirty or infested with flies! Instead, it refers to the following ideas: Small but buzzing with people: These places are usually tiny and attract large crowds because of their reputation for tasty, affordable dishes. The "flies" metaphor represents the constant stream of customers who, like flies, are drawn to the irresistible food. Hidden gems: These restaurants are often located in obscure alleys, tucked-away corners, or non-touristy spots. They're not fancy or heavily advertised, but they are sought out by locals for their authenticity.

You should show the screaming and workers being mean @19:21. Show us what you mean by you saying they were not friendly cause a lot of the time its just the way they talk because they are always yelling and being loud. You know your audiences love the drama lol.

@Steve-bw9bsАй бұрын
Unlike Luke there are way too many food vloggers trying too hard to be entertainers. If you think Luke is cringes then you haven't seen Mark Wiens or Trevor James. MW vids pretty much feature the same formula show to show: stuff wide open mouth, talk while chewing, make yummy face, repeat. TJ's content relied more and more on forced enthusiasm and excessive mugging, just plain silly. Luke is far more genuine and believable, a regular guy who gives honest critiques and opinions.
