Not entirely. International students pay 3x the tuition. If their income is from China, with like 1/8th income compared to the US. These Chinese students will need to work 24h for every 1h a US college student would to pay for the same education.

It's not like every other US college student. It's actually illegal to work with a student visa in the US during semesters unless it's a short-term internship *directly* related to their program of study approved by the university to count for credit, so the only real options are under-the-table cash-paying jobs with massive consequences to both the student and the employer if caught (fines, jail time, deportation etc.). Also, most financial aid and scholarship options that can help US students in need aren't available to international students. Their only options are to either take out a loan (which no bank will approve them for since they're considered too risky i.e. they can run away and go back to China instead of paying, plus they can't even get a social security number for work-authorization related reasons), or go home. It's not even close to every other US college student, especially those paying in-state tuition with pell grants who have the option to legally work during the semesters or get approved for a loan.

If you are paying for your kids' education right now, it means you are in the upper middle class or you are a foreigner and you are doing that because you have no option but to do that and right now for an in-state school that is about $125k for 4 years. If you are a foreigner it's a whole lot more. I have never met a Chinese parent that would pay for anything except stem so again not the issue in question. I went back to school in my thirties and worked 2 jobs, one was as the on-site caretaker at a horse stable. The stable was on agricultural lease land - land that the government has set aside for farming, it cannot legally be used for commercial or residential property. The land was owned by a family in China who were holding on to it until the laws changed so they could sell it to condo developers. The house and barns on the property were falling apart - plumbing regularly failed, the roof was ready to fall in any time. The daughter of the owners lived locally and any time we wanted to improve or change anything we had to talk to her - it would take her weeks to get back to us and she only spoke English in the very loosest sense of the word. About a year after I finished school and had moved on, the owners raised the rent too much and forced the stable out. I wonder if these people are among the struggling speculators of China now?

What people don’t understand is having student visas in the US means you aren’t allowed to get paid to work because they present proof of income that they can afford to study without working to get a student visa. Even paid internships requires a lot of paperwork. Foreign students that you see working are most likely working under the table. The UK is different because they do allow students to work if it’s related to their studies and only for 20 hrs a week maximum

1.People need to remember not everyone going to school is rich. One girl in video said her parents sold their home and some parents use their retirement money. 2. Students here on Visa can't get a part-time job or a full-time job. So no not the same situation as every other student. 3. The reason they come here is because having a western degree looks good and it proves English skills. In China it use to make getting a job easier but China has began discouraging it's people from learning english. It's even recently removed it from it education requirements. They killed a multibillion industry of english schools/tutors in a week.

@@muireanne lol living like a rich person while you are not is kind of stupid, that means ur gambling, selling ur properties just to fund a university degree partly with any 100% of returning profit from the investments is retarded. And the story about the parents sold their properties, thats not from a poor family, if you have a property, it means u have money, i dont even have a drivers license and im happy tgat i dont have any properties, and im still surviving without finishing any degrees....how is tgat possible?

Oh, poor Chinese students, so now you have no money to pursue your high standard life in the US ? So now you have to work to pay your tuition ? So you have no more money from your parents to drive luxury cars to your college, to spend your weekends at 900 USD per night for hangouts ? Praise your great communist party and its so smart leader for having put you and your family to this point. Honestly I feel no empathy at all at those complaints of harsh life of the Chinese students in the US or the situation of their family loosing fortune and businesses in the mainland, it's simply karma as those rich families are without any doubt have connection with high ranking officials of the government or even are high ranking members of the CCP to possess wealth enough to send their children study abroad !!!
