This is a good series, however you need to go more in-depth and research. Also some interviews with consumers would be good to get their take and you make them aware of what is really happening. In the case of the vat you highlighted, it is most likely that the supermarkets are registered to administer VAT, however GRA have a responsibility to do compulsory registration when they trade above 15m per year and I am sure all Chinese supermarkets do this many folds over. So, while I support keeping inline with the law. I'm wondering that before the Chinese supermarket wave we locals have shops etc that don't charge VAT and I know we like it. So are you saying that we should push for the chienese supermarket get vat registration and start charging us VAT? Because while I support this measure accross the board I would like to make known a few things. 1. The cost will increase accross the board. 2. All local business and foreign business will also need to charge VAT as should be. 3. Increase cost accross the board as their is not a price cap. 4. Not only chienese product have this issue, I also seen it with Spanish product in food and beauty products. 5. Are you saying then to impose this law because of the chiense products or are you saying impose these laws regardless of who may be left behind being consumer and vendor. Because I have a feeling that the local folks will not benifit... Idk of any food related issues that might cause us to want to impose the law harsher but I believe that while we have laws on the books we need a conscience when applying. (1 & 2) A VAT threshold exists, the local shops that don't charge are below the threshold and they are prosecuted if they are not in compliance. All of the local supermarkets named in the last video are in compliance. The Chinese products are not cheaper, and without paying VAT, they are pocketing the tax money. (3) Everyone else above the threshold pays VAT, so the point about increasing cost across the board is invalid. With or without VAT businesses can raise their prices. The last wave of inflation is proof of that. (4) The docu-series is about Chinese businesses. (5) The mere sale of illegal products is not beneficial to citizens. You don't need to wait for something to go wrong to fix it. Local businesses and consumers are the primary victims of the slackness. Local businesses are not the primary perpetrators and local businesses are not able to evade the law as blatantly. Before you think about conscience, think about your national interests.

You're arguing points that were not made and ascribing intent where it doesn't exist, proving that you don't have constructive intent. A docuseries about Chinese businesses, is supposed to focus on that. Do you watch a romance film for horror? Where was it stated that "this is only a Chinese problem?" You're free to make the comparisons in your time. How is it an assumption when the business is not VAT registered as shown in the video? If it isn't registered, where does the money that should be paid as VAT go? Try something other than lobbing red herrings, building strawmen and "whataboutism"

Chinese are probably robbing Guyanese more than Guyanese are robbing them because they are zero proof that Chinese supermarket and other Chinese businesses are spending one dime of the profit that they are making off of us, Guyanese, back in Guyana. And, also, Chinese are probably not banking any of the profit they make off of Guyanese back in Guyanese banks so that Guyana and Guyanese can benefit. Instead all of that profit is probably sent back home to China. Prove me wrong, somebody. Apart from them, I blame the government of Guyana for allowing inferior items to be sold in Guyana that the Guyanese people are spending their hard earned wages and salary on. There is no quality control on the items that Chinese businesses sell in Guyana.
