Thanks Geary! I have a Norinco 213, which is basically a commercial model of this in 9mm. I love how easily the hammer unit pulls out on Tokarevs. Generally I find the construction intelligent and intuitive.

The one I added to the collection was immaculate. I’m guessing it was a refurb. Got an original leather holster for it, which was beautiful with blue corduroy interior. Not as practical as my Yugo version with its smaller magazine ejection and one less round capacity, but still I fine example.

I have a Type 54, great gun to play with and affordable to shoot. It is also a comfortable carry gun, quite similar to a 1911, but much smaller. Make no mistake, I still enjoy my 1911.

I had a 1941 tula a 1945 Ishvesk and a 1950 Ishvesk but was forced to sell them. So I purchased an Albanian import made at factory 66 in 1957 s/n 06795 on slide and frame, but both the hammer group, barrel and bushing were replaced and do not match, but seeing it was originally build in the first 10,000 produced between 1955-57 that is understandable.

I picked one up yesterday for $349. Took it out shooting the same day using cheap circle 10 Bulgarian surplus ball ammo. Put about 100 rounds through it, worked good. Only one misfire, it was the ammo, as the primer had a deep dent. Mine had the park refinish, tiny bit of pitting and dings from use. It had the black star grips. I’ll be getting an original trigger as soon as I can get one of those prepaid Visa cards at the grocery store. The original triggers are for sale on eBay, but all are from Russia for around $30. I don’t trust Russian sellers with my normal credit card info.

Thanks for the video picked a super nice type 54.. Beautiful finish, zero scratches by the takedown part and slide stop… Looks brand spanking new, came with a leather holster with cleaning rod and belt.. Our serial numbers are less that 10,000 apart same factory and date.. Unfortunately non matching magazine, I dont see the import marks tho, and theres a single ‘A’ mark on the trigger guard and on the bottom of the magwell on the heel theres a single crooked ‘4.’
@GearyGunderson7 ай бұрын
That’s cool. It’s probably a bring back if there’s no import mark, which makes the close serial number all the more interesting.

They have been coming on the surplus market lately. One of those things that used to be super rare and is now coming in by the crate. I'm curious if we will get updated data with all the new imports.
@oubliette862 Жыл бұрын
you should avoid dry firing those guns because without a shell in the chamber the firing pin goes too far and will break that round retainer that holds things in place. the m57s have a different issue. the block that retains the firing pin can work down with recoil and wear and start catching on the disconnector damaging the slide. look for drag marks on the ejected shells on the primer. aside from that I really like those guns they are awesome.

That Glock style trigger sucks. As far as triggers go, it's like the brakes on a 1960s International dump truck..... heavy and sloppy. The first thing I did to my Type 54 was replace that garbage safety trigger with a plain Romanian surplus trigger. I smoothed mine up too. It's a sweet shooter in the original Tokarev configuration without holes being drilled in the frame for a safety I really don't need or want.

Sir i have Chinese tt pistol now tell me that if I keeping magazine full load all the year it's magazine spring will be lose or damaged and next what is the service life of Chinese tt pistol barrel
@GearyGunderson7 ай бұрын
Whether or not to keep magazines loaded or not over a long period of time is still hotly debated. From everything I have seen, keeping it loaded does not seem to cause issues even years later. The pistols are very well made; so it would be in the thousands of rounds, but I do not have an actual chart or study to refer to for this.
@sulemanlaghari15377 ай бұрын
Sir As u know Chinese tt pistol magazine capacity is 8 rounds the question is that if I keep 7 rounds in the magazine then it's magazine spring will be lose or not? Plz Rply
@bmw328igearhead5 ай бұрын
@sulemanlaghari1537 You get roughly 10,000 rounds before you have to worry about barrel wear. But it all depends on what ammo you're shooting, how well it was maintained, and cleaned after firing corrosive ammo (which is almost all surplus 7.62x25) For the average person, in the average situation, the TT33/Type 54/M57 pistol is a fine firearm. Take care of it, and it will last your lifetime, and maybe a few more after that.

I am getting this soon but the shop guy said I’ll have to clean the sh*t out of it before using it since it is surplus. What do you think ?
@GearyGunderson2 жыл бұрын
A lot of surplus was packed full of cosmoline, a preservative which can be a pain to get off your firearm. It’s sticky and tacky but you can get it cleaned off with normal gun cleaning supplies. There are also other ways to help get it off like soaking it in mineral spirits, which breaks down the cosmoline. I’m not sure if it’d affect the grips though so I’d take those off first.

I got this right before those started coming into the country and it has no import marks. My best guess is it's a bring back, but I have no evidence for this other than the lack of import markings and I doubt it would have been commercially available before 1968.
