Many have underestimated the Brits in history to their sorrow. The Chinese should understand that their military is untested in history. That is not the case with Western militaries. Just because you have a race car doesn't mean you have the skill to drive it.

Hell of a lot of derogatory comments on this. No doubt enjoying the freedom to do such while no thought to where that freedom comes from, usually people who would run a mile from any need to defend it yet still love bringing down the society they never hesitate taking advantage of. The law ratified in the UN requires free waters to stay such for good reasons. China's relentless intimidation infringing it's smaller neighbours rights with aggresive bullying is just that and not invasion or annexation thanks to the threat of retaliation from non dicatorships sticking together. What this doesn't tell you is that the Chinese moved two of their latest subs, supposedly undetectable, in to shadow the fleet as well. Well before the Chinese subs picked anything up a British Astute picked them both up shadowed them and guided an anti sub ship and helicopter in to scare them off. The Chinese made out that they deliberately let the subs be found to show how they can get close. Behind the scenes intelligence showed that Xi was going bananas as these subs were supposed to be undetectable, yet they didn't realise they'd been getting shadowed for a couple of days by an Astute. Had major ructions in the Chinese military and government.

@@barriewright2857 yea they should just go back and get the old dreadnought blue prints out from the thirties? Loved em. Ask the Swiss if they've got any spare Lego leftovers. Bit embarrassing us going out thinking we've got any power on the world stage now. How no one see this coming with Maggie finishing the navy off then having to get things out of the scrapyards for the Falklands. 1st thing this country needs to do is get the pedophile sympathizing PM we have in office out. The only time I'd worry bout the Chinese is if they start grouping up on the borders of Europe. I suppose some have to be there stopping the yanks and China from letting themselves off the leash. When it comes to geo confrontations us and China is the main one to worry about. If they kick off That would be the end. Bless. P.S. It's right. When did the west threaten an unprovoked attack on a neighbouring country like the Russians in Ukraine or what Xi keeps threatening Taiwan with? Neither has any claim on these countries but still they persist, nor does China have claim over the China Sea. You also forget, like most of the world, that Russia and China are not countries but empires, but for some reason, nobody, especially these woke idiots, seems to point that out. Ask the Uyghurs or Tibetans or even the Caucasian peoples if they want to be violently oppressed.

Us Brits have a long history of operating in the East. China still remembers the Opium Wars (where we shelled Chinese coastal cities until the Emperor let us export opium from India to China without interference). India remembers two centuries of subjugation. Nothing for us to be proud of, I agree, but it was hilarious to suggest that the East is not a traditional sphere of operation. BTW, the suggestion is that West Taiwan is likely to collapse within the next decade thanks to internal problems.
