Priyanka is a child prodigy and a darling of Tamil Mass for her classic voice and performances without much show - off. She had done a sizable playback for movies and shows. This song had won her a lot of accolades when she performed in reality show competition probably when she was 8 or 9 years old and from then on, this had become her special song and requested by audience wherever she performs. This orchestration or audience absolutely didn't do justice in supporting her voice and performance that outclasses even the original.

The people that recommend Raaja sir's songs: please do us a favor and only share the best recorded versions of the songs - it is a HUGE disservice to Raaja sir's incredible compositions when the preludes and interludes are played so badly as in the above version or if they are not heard properly because of bad recording. Also, as great as her singing voice is, Priyanka is barely an above average singer when it comes to actual skills. You need more than a pretty voice to be a great singer. For future reference, especially to Korbin: One suggestion is to play the audio version available on Ilaiyaraja's official KZbin channel (conveniently named 'Ilaiyaraja Official') for high-fidelity version of any of Raaja sir's songs when fans share a video of the songs from the movie. This way you get the best of both worlds: you can watch the visuals from the actual movie to glean the context and yet be able to hear the best audio version of the song from Ilaiyaraja's official channel. 👍

Priyanka is a good singer. The song is very suite to her voice. As this is a show she just brings her voice identical to the original voice of S Janaki. But the orchestration is not good. You should check before posting video whether everything is good. Everytime it disappoints us. A good composition by maestro Ilayaraja. Better react to the original one.
