31:36 Surprisingly; they didn't overdub hi-hats, which Ben was hitting as opposed to the crash/ride (and later, the china hits at 31:38) in the original. Also, it's quite horrible that they filmed CLTCL during the sunset because the lighting became inconsistent compared to the other songs.

My understanding of the movie was that used a mixture of Martel's, Rami's and Freddie's vocals so it would of course stand to reason there's some editing/dubbing done there.

Like Freddie said on multiple occasions, absolutely perfect. I can't believe I missed the premiere, but I'm glad I could watch it anyway. Hopefully this stays for good on the channel. Can't wait for the Wembley episode. This will be a fun one, I'm sure, especially with the ridiculous amount of different mixes 2nd Wembley had, with potential mixing/editing differences.

But Queen productions would like us to focus more on the Wembley shows from 1986 because apparently those are pinnacle Queen performances. Like we never hear of Japan 85 or Buenos Aires which I would love to see those shows get another rerelease. I wish they would just release all filmed shows. So many people are missing out on other great performances because all they do is focus on Wembley 86 and Montreal 81.

I think Marc did a fantastic job with mixing in the Bohemian Rhapsody. You could certainly tell it was him singing in certain scenes. But his voice still was quite close to Freddie. Great video! Always enjoy this series. I'm curious to see if there are any other Queen concerts we will see officially released. And potentially if QueenProductions will butcher the audio of choose to leave it.

i understand they had to change Freddie's vocals in the Live Aid but some of it sounds so weird, my biggest problem however is they cut so much of the og performance not only by shortening or completly removing songs but they also took out some stuff like Roger hits on his drum (he was probably tuning) and John bass noises during the ay-oh section or how they couldve make Spikey's guitar in Hammer To Fall louder or even added a new one if they coukdnt

Kind of. Boh Rhap The Movie mostly made some adjustments to Freddie's vocals so they synced with Rami Malek's mouth, completely butchering them in the process. Some parts of Roger's drums also had some minor overdubs to match with Ben Hardy's acting. Otherwise not much else iirc.

I kinda am working on that too. With part 1 focusing on Mannheim, Newcastle and Wembley, while part 2 will focus on the latter half of the Magic Tour releases (Budapest and Knebworth). Part 2 will be the longest video by far, since I'll have to compare 4 releases for Budapest: the original theatrical release, the 1986 Live Magic mix, the 1987 VHS/Laserdisc mix and the 2012 Hungarian Rhapsody CD and Blu-Ray/DVD release. Part 1 will probably be released in late December 2022-early 2023.

Thank you for doing this. I love Queen but hate the way they tamper with stuff. Live is live!! Listener86 uploads concerts etc and their show in Munich 86 was awful in places, good listen though. As for the movie tampering, for artistic effect I guess. Keep up the analysis!!

One pedantic correction, not really a problem: at about 8:25 you write “segways” to mean “transitions”. The correct spelling is “segues”. I presume you were influenced by “Segway”, the brand of scooter thingies which is a pun on “segue”. Anyway, I’m greatly enjoying this as I have the whole series and all of your videos. EDIT: You use the correct spelling at about 17:15, so you probably already know this. Note to self: WATCH THE WHOLE VIDEO BEFORE COMMENTING. 2ND EDIT: Second pedantic typo note: at about 29:00, you write “vein” when the line is “all in vain”.

I gotta be honest, I feel like you were WAY too harsh on the Tokyo mix. It's not outstanding but its better than Montreal and Rio's original mixes. It gives the synths a chance to finally fucking breathe and not be cut. Also the drums aren't shit.
