It took me a few rewatches but the thing that Chiori picks up at the end is one of the blue gems that are featured on Navia's outfit. Since Chiori designed that outfit she sighed because it fell off and was probably not the first time it's happened.

They’re not gonna make Jeht a playable character! She’s an altered NPC character with no VA and doesn’t use any of the 5 weapons that the game has available. You’re better off sticking/getting Nilou.
