I remember seeing that Firebird in Hot Rod Magazine , it was blue with 1986 Pontiac WS6 8 x16 wheels . I thought lill' John Butteras silver Camaro was done before this in a similar way ?

look upon a true 1969 copo camaro beat that blondie. 427 from the factory for 800 dollar$ in 1989. 427 baby... ?? of 69..chase me. X44.

Chip explains it was really the first pro-touring example! and yes, they discuss there were a lot more Camaros around, but yea, it was a cool way to make this car stand out and started a trend!
