That would make no sense for Stein. He's spent the last two years building up his program at Oregon and as he showed last year there's literally no one in the B1G he can't beat already so success isn't a motivator. Neither is cash as Ohio State's reporting millions of dollars in losses from their athletic department in 2024 while Oregon's sitting pretty financially so I highly doubt they could outbid Oregon even if Stein was open to the job.

He had a bad day coming off a 25 day lull, not exactly a good example for a case study of his body of work. Regardless, if you wanna talk budgets the athletic department reported a net loss of 38 million in 2024. It doesn't matter if the university itself is bringing in 1B+, the athletic department, the only relevant budget, is hemorrhaging money so how would they plan on paying him to leave? Also yes, you have Smith, So? We're bringing in Dakorien Moore and with the coaching exodus don't be shocked if Smith jumps in the spring portal and if so you can bet Stein and Lanning will be on him in a second. Why leave to a toxic ass environment like Ohio State when we can just bring your best talent to us?

Dude, who's to say Day's not bouncing out next? The Ohio State athletic department has a 38 million dollar deficit and he just lost his OC and DC with empty coffers to replace them. The Saints still need a HC though, so who's to say he won't just dip out of a program falling to shambles for a cushy life in New Orleans? I honestly wouldn't blame him with the way the Ohio State fanbase treated him and his family last year, death threats to women and children aren't a great way to endear a coach to your program. Hell, if anything this would be an ideal time for him to dip out before the ship capsizes.

*Ohio State is going to pay for that National Championship in 2025. Much like Michigan did this past year. I can't imagine an 8-5 season like Michigan had as they have the remnants of a dream team still coming back, but they are definitely going to have to work twice as hard to remain close to where they're at. With BOTH OC and DC gone…ouch. Go Blue.*

I fully expect to struggle no doubt. Difference is OSU should have better options than what michigan was working with. Suprised that Moore did not see issues preseason with there qb room and not go after a decent portal qb. The other big thing is the loss of experience which to me is the biggest factor for OSU.

@@christopherellis9322I think Ohio State is in a much better position to weather the storm than Michigan was. And Im sure that the new OC and DC hires will be top-notch caliber. Nonetheless, there is almost always a gelling period that needs to take place as the players learn the quirks and nuances of each coach, even if the system remains the same. I'm sure Ohio State, with their level of athletes, can and will bounce back much quicker than an average school. But, still, there will be a dangerous period where anything can happen.
