I mean... yeah. They don't HAVE to do the entire series but it would be pretty unsatisfying to end it on CoM since that's basically just setup for KH2. It might continue on from KH2 but I think there's a real possibility of it ending there.

@@lukasruston8618 Back in the day, before Squeenix decided "eh, let's do more", it wrapped up like 90% of any loose threads with 2's conclusion. That letter at the end of 2 is basically just an "and the adventure continues" even moreso than 1's was, and 2 is a surprisingly self-contained and internally consistent, there's very little set up in 2 that isn't resolved in 2 and there's basically just ONE retcon in the game which in fairness, is written in such a way that it's an easy out. So if they decided to keep going, but stopped after 2, it would still wrap up in a nice little bow.

There are some crazy parts, but they ultimately make some sense with context, and are resolved by KH2's end. Side games aside, what does KH3 add to that chunk of lore that needed explaining?

It's not just a Real Ass Sword, that's the fucking Dream Sword from the start of the game turned into a Keyblade. 28:00 "Remember me Motherfucker? Cause I remember you." The Shorts where he was named George Geef, and his wife was physically abusive, so he took his son and him and ran and changed their names to Goof. And then Goof Troop begins.

The ending really shows that this whole lp has been about Chip fighting the darkness in his own heart. The lp is his keyblade. Only KH games I ever finished were this game and 2, but man does the final boss here have character in a way that the omnipresent anime shenanigans of 2 can't compare to. Great lp as per usual.

I really loved this lp, honestly each part felt like it went by so fast. It was kinda interesting seeing how normal the first KH is, I had only ever played the gba Chain of Memories when I was little so I really didn’t understand the plot AT ALL. So I’m delighted to see that the next lp is Chain of Memories! I watched a different lp of it a while back but having the context of what actually happened in the 1st game is going to make that lp super fun. I’m especially excited to hear what Ironicus thinks about it, because that game is like a combination of just bizarre gameplay and levels, with a plot that increasingly deviates from the simplicity of this game.

I loved this LP! It's great to see you both finish a game again, especially one that I love. This is my first time actually seeing the credits of KH1 since my copy on PS2 can't load the final cutscene after beating Ansem unfortunately, but it's good to see it here during a great edited LP. In the first episode Chip said that there's no promise of the whole series, but seeing KH2 as well and Chain of Memories would be great! Overall, great work Grant and Chip, excited as always to see whatever you LP next!

@Tamacat388 there isn't any sadly as it was show behind closed doors, the most indication of its existence now were some old magazine scans covering KH2FM when it was announced using alleged snaps from this trailer that fueled speculation on it being an older sora in the Armor the teaser characters used because the old design looked more like Sora at a point.

47:58 this is one of the classic moments of Kingdom Hearts where there's about fifty things happening at once and they make the (imo) correct decision to just let it all happen rather than stopping to break it all down. But it does all make sense within the information we already have! The heartless have been dragging the hearts of worlds into the realm of darkness, where they all come together to form Kingdom Hearts. (What does that mean? Not important right now lmao) That door is the entrance to the realm of darkness, which is why it's full of heartless and darkness pours out of it when it starts to open. Ansem expects that darkness to be amplified by Kingdom Hearts, but as the door opens more, he gets blasted by light instead. They then need to seal the door to protect the realm of light There's a lot going on, and it is confusing, but I've found that it helps to spend roughly twenty years thinking about it and then it all makes sense except when it doesn't

Will always remember how my copy of the game was messed up as a kid. Every time it got to about the 51:30 mark, the game would freeze. Did so much to try and clean the disc and it never worked. Absolutely heartbreaking

Get ready for the entirety of _Chain of Memories,_ where it becomes a central mechanic because the place is filled with weird juju that means Sora can't swing a pointy stick or ask Donald to fling a fireball without first reading up on how. Or _Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix,_ which has a superboss whose main gimmick is they pound you so hard you forget how to swing your weapon or open your item bag. Your command deck (the UI at the bottom right) empties, and the entries go bouncing across the arena and you have to chase them. So the battle becomes this weird procurement quest where you have to decide which command you need *right goddamn **_now,_** the others will have to wait.* That boss absolutely doesn't fuck around. He is too angry to die, and too angry for you to survive. While I'm thinking about it, consider picking up _Kingdom Hearts ReCoded_ as well. It's a Nintendo DS remake of an old JPN Cell Phone game. It'll emulate fine because it doesn't really ever use the touch screen. Its command interface walked so that _Birth By Sleep's_ command deck could stumble. It does some pretty wild things with the medium, and it's a shame we didn't get it with the rereleases.

So a funny thing about Ansem, whoever was in charge of the casting was a big fan of Ghost in the Shell, because when they went to cast him following Billy Zane’s portrayal, they wanted the english voice actor for Batou in Ghost in the Shell, since Akio Otsuka voices both characters. A similar process happened in KH2 only with Vicious from Cowboy Bebop, but funnily enough they got the wrong English voice actor and just went with it.

If you look at 52:45, Kairi is sorta awkwardly mouthing something? Yeah so for whatever reason, the English version just didn't dub her line here??? It's supposed to be her thoughts and it's even subtitled in Japanese. She says "Don't forget, Sora, your feelings have reached me." which actually did get translated/dubbed to "Don’t forget. I have you in my thoughts" ...in the announcement trailer for the 1.5 + 2.5 collection and NOWHERE ELSE.

So fun fact, none of the post credits endings were in the original Japanese release. The JP release ended with Kairi all alone on the island, cut to credits, back to main menu. It was first with the Western release (which added all the bonuses bosses like Sephiroth), that we get the scene with Sora, Goofy, and Donald walking down the road or the scene with Riku setting up the sequel.

2 can work without CoM even though CoM basically just exists to set up 2, but 3 will leave you COMPLETELY lost if you haven't played CoM, 2, Days, BBS, the final cutscene of Coded, and DDD.
