I've been working at Chipotle part-time for a year and 3 months now, let me show off a few of my skills
Hello there! I’m Maxwell Garcia. I’m a rising sophomore at the University of Florida State at Tallahassee, Florida studying electrical engineering. Currently hoping to work for Elon Musk under Tesla or SpaceX or maybe work somewhere to afford a Model Y w/ FSD. I make mostly vlogs centered around my life and occasionally make more deep dives into my revolving door of hobbies. I’m a flawed human and full of love to give!

I was a GM for Chipotle for a few years. I do have to say that it was the 2 best store that I managed for food wise. All restaurants cook leftovers. But Chipotle is the only one that uses day old and throws it after. Their prep is the best I’ve seen with freshness. I actually ran the 9th best Chipotle in the US. They paid managers really well but I have to say they pay employees garbage. The reason I left was because it’s a greedy company. Their standards are high and unreasonable and give no wiggle room to be generous at times with those high prices that’s why you see the skimpy bowls at times

Do they take the leftover chicken off the line and then put it in the fridge ? I’m asking because I have an allergy to gluten and I always am the first person when chipotle opens lol.

Fctz I'm a kl and I use those first my re-heats are the first to go and I make sure it's not much we use cook to order...or pretty much a system to track sales and predict future sales... so I cook accordingly to what the sheet says but it's always hit or miss.. you can't account for the basketball team who is traveling... or the 6-7 catering orders we get.... but chipotle is a fun spot to work mangers are cool... but that's another story.... but for the most part we good it's an extended family

I used to work Grill as a closer and then Opener when the store I worked at moved me to a different place. I worked for Chipotle for 3-4 years and man I just had so many flashbacks. The double toss down of ckn was something I learned out of desperation because I had the main line and a drive thru line that just slammed my ckn. Same thing with the steak at some point. But it got to the point where I was the only person that could get away with bending so many of the rules and such because I was such a beast at Grill that neither line was fully out of anything on the hot side. Then I learned all the times that it would be busy since we were posted right across from a Uni. Still many memories made their and plenty of stories that would get me fired if I was still their and told the managers but the ones I worked with that were also doing Uni were pretty chill. Still this video sums up morning Grill

Holy I’m shocked with how little prep this was, I use to work at Cafe Rio basically Chipotle’s competitor and they had my sister do Grill plus HAND WASH DISHES. It would’ve been much better with a automatic dishwasher. We even make the tortillas fresh and I’d get so pissed when I’d have to make more than 300 a day for Taco Tuesdays 🥲

I owned a restaurant and bar for 20 years. It is hard work because it is so intense and you work constantly (that goes for people who have work ethic and want to produce quality). I am surprised to see that you make the tea on the stove top in kettles, we ran our big tea bags in through our bunn hot water machine that made coffee too, it was made strong and then diluted to proper strength with ice. We did all our own prep in the AM for the day and the often all day long depending on demand. Our food was always fresh due to turnover in sales - nothing sat. We labeled everything with dates so rotation was followed. Of course we were Serv-Safe certified, I had all my kitchen staff take classes - that is important. We sliced all our own deli meats and cheeses every other day - lots of Globe slicer work. Prep work tires you out, then working the line finishes you off. I often enjoyed just going in the dish room and doing dishes - it was therapeutic. Customers would be surprised to find out that as the owner I wash dishes. Yes, as the owner you do everything including cleaning toilets. Staff doesn't always show up or you have staff that have shortcomings. Food service is a young persons business. I was worn out and sold my business to someone else luckily several years before the pandemic. They couldn't hack it and the building somehow caught fire. Restaurant in trouble often have "fires" mysteriously happen. You see a lot of fires in the news when the economy gets tough.

If something needs to cook, think about what you can do during the cook time to maximize efficiency, etc. You’ll do great :-)

This explains why the brown rice is sometimes still too hard. Lately it's been fine, but in the past, like 50% of the time it was undercooked. In general, 30 minutes is too short especially if you don't soak it first. It should be closer to 40 minutes. When I make brown rice at home, I soak it for 10-15 minutes and rinse it in a colander which results in improved texture. Also, 2 cups + 1 cup of oil? That seems like a lot. Anyway, thank you for your service!
@moxxee3365

as a service leader at chipotle, generally washing brown rice takes awhile so they get plenty of soakage, usually when you get hard rice its because it gets overcooked sitting in the hot well on either line, especially when its slow

Literally 90% of the places you eat repurpose or reuse food. Chicken that was cooked 16 hours ago and reheated would not give you “digestion issues”. Chicken that is bad would make you violently ill. It is clearly the spices or something.

I've worked in food service before, and the only thing that surprised me is the tea boiled on the stove. I've never seen a place that doesn't have tea brewers that tap into the water line.🤷‍♂️

“It leads to a slightly cheaper bowl on your part” 3:40 No it doesn’t I’ve never gotten a discount I’ve always had to pay at least $10 for a bowl. If you get a soda it s like $15.

He probably meant in general, for example they might’ve charged people 12$ for a chicken bowl (or more) if they didn’t reuse the leftovers. But due to the resized chicken and your location it’s 10. The thing is I’d love to get a chicken bowl for 10 but I get charged 12.50, and for steak it’s 14.35 where I’m from.

Did anyone catch the typo on the sign about the “no phone in this corner”? The typo was … “you’re” when it should have been “your” Anyone want to let Chipotle corporate know, lol.

As a grill man at chipotle it’s very annoying to me how busy grill is and how much work is required for grill it would be so much easier with two people on grill in my opinion

Hey man i work in chipotle too but get criticism for not calling out the right call out for when food is low in the line and i just recently started working there and i getting annoyed about it. Do you by chance have a video of it or can you give me a hand on what to do.
@maxwellgarcia_
@maxwellgarcia_ 3 ай бұрын
i hope your grill people are kind in the criticism but all you have to do is to call the different hot foods when they reach a half or a quarter of the deep container. This allows the grill person to go mix rice or to fetch any food to prepare. You could also ask the grill person directly how they would like their food calls.

I usually tell my grill person hey so and so is almost out maybe 1 or 2 orders left. When they say working it means I'm halfway out and when you say for sale it means I'm almost out. Hope this helps!

Do they really pay you minimum wage bro? I’m in college in Valdosta, Georgia. Not too far from tally. Was thinking about getting a job there since our locations are hiring right now. But can’t do it for minimum wage, was hoping for $14-$16 an hour at least

Not quite minimum wage, a couple dollars more (but in many places I’m sure it is the minimum wage like California)

okay my boy the reason doubles suck and against policy is it takes longer to cook, it does not take roughly 6 and 6,7 min like a single chicken would. 7 min then 10+ min for real that much meat on the grill lowers the temp so much can barely even brown on the second side. you cutting it very close to temping chicken. side tip you cooking too long on first side, the sooner you flip the faster you raise the temp. Sear the first side, raise temp with the second.
