That was a very well done fight. Even the A-Team, which was later than this, just featured punching, and then BA Baracus picking people up and throwing them. Ponch's skill with Nunchucks and poles means he found some spare time to go to the Valley and take lessons from Mr. Miyagi.

I see a few folks saying that the choreography is horrible, but considering that this was for television and during the early 1980's, I think the choreography and techniques are decent. The second Karate episode, which is the sequel to this, had even better choreography.

Aiyaiyai, talk about third-drawer fight choreography. They could have borrowed some green belts from the local dojo for better fight scenes than this stuff. What I do like about CHiPs is that whatever was fashionable in the seventies was on the show: Disco, martial arts, roller skating, clothes. The show is a real time capsule.

I started taking karate lessons at 8 after this episode came out😂😂. The good old 1980s. Karate was on chips and every Saturday night was the black belt special on regular TV. Everything is at everyone’s fingertips now and my daughter asked me what it was like back then. It was a lot of fun because you always had something to look forward to the next week when it was coming on and if you missed it you didn’t see it lol.
