Overwatch devs never know what to do. Couldnt stop goats so they made the game 2 2 2.. couldnt stop double shield so they made the game have 5v5. Theyre so dumb. Instead of just going "hey guys we are gonna remove this character for a season until we figure out how to balance them" they do these extreme permanently game changing changes.

They didn't implement 2-2-2 because of GOATs. It's well documented that they were already working on that system behind the scenes well before GOATs became a thing. It just took them way too long to roll out the new system.

He used to have something like 175hp in OW1, but it was fine because of his insane damage output and a second tank to peel for him. Now they had to compensate for the lack of peels by giving him extra HP and a boop to help with his survivability

Blizzard never focused on balancing heroes, they always focused on changing the format to "fix" things. They dont understand blanace from a gameplay perspective, only from a playrate/winrate perspective. They will never change Brig because of that, same with many other strong heroes who arebt played well in metal ranks, but dominate gm and pro.

What happened to the Halo franchise happened to overwatch. In attempt to appeal to a larger audience they changed the identity of the game. It went from a 6v6 team objective ability based fps to team death match call of duty style aim based game with roles and an objectives tossed in the mix. Even though it was a niche genre to begin with it won game of the year, how do you not realize that the niche genre itself is what made it great and until then it had never been brought to the masses in that format.

game companies failing to understand what actually makes their games fun and good seems to never change lol. gaming became so doomed the moment it blew up and people realized the profits that could be made. majority of AAA games are horseshit. once good games have been balanced/designed backwards in an attempt to appeal to lil ol timmy on console. good games do still come out ofc but they are often done by smaller studios or companies that aren't from the west from what I've noticed. :/ p much the only multiplayer game I will continue to play throughout the years is dota. valve has devs that actually understand the game at a fundamental level and are able to make changes that reflect that.

@@jaded-harper anybody who is invested in the game I guarantee understands this. Its just truly a tragedy what happened to overwatch a true tragedy. The key from the beginning moving forward was always hero design and they blew it chasing after nothing really. When you design champions to counter a play style it's a disaster. When you create new play styles with your champions, then you have a game. It was never about countering, always about creating and in a game designed around these champions why aren't the majority of resources invested in hero and map design and consistently releasing that type of content. Who is going to have time to sit and develop some bogus comp like goats when, in the timeline that we've had, there should be dozens of new characters and new maps in the game with an incromprehensible amount of potential collaborations that could be effective. They failed miserably at recognizing this, yet some random guy knew this since season 1 of overwatch 1

When blizzard made Sarcraft 1, the game was omega imbalanced. But at the time, "patches" and balance was not something people talked or cared about. If you didn't like it, you didn't play it. Over 2 decades later, the game is loved by its community, because the players adapted to the imbalances and found ways to work around them. In overwatch 1, a lot of things were also imbalanced but people loved the game and found ways to do creative things to overcome imbalances. Are we beginning to see a pattern here? Blizzard is now a mobile game company that pretends they make good games. this affects all of their games, including overwatch 0.9. Sad to see, but I have more fun playing older games than ow2, so gl everyone.

In Paladins tanks and supports can't do damage. Feels great to ply dps, but feels so awful when you're a tank and youre hitting every shot and your dps is just dying to the enemy dps and you lose. So maybe OW balance isn't really so bad then?

I believe the guy who said he got gold damage as Lucio often @5:30, but that was a different game then and it wasn’t because of skill shots in the aim sense but because of booping tanks off the map like a full health Roadhog boop gave you 600 damage towards just the Lucio player, even my wife would sometimes get gold damage in QP mode with Lucio lol. It was a thing but like the guy in the video is saying not because of aiming but movement really.

yes. but i also feel like the problem could also be role queue. i played open queue last night and we had a bunch of games with different strats and it was actually incredibly fun. wacky comps instead of boring garbage every single game. also rein is actually playable in open queue with double tank. but it doesn’t feel too oppressive bcz DPS has this new passive to keep supports in check. you can go 3 DPS with moira or bap and 1 tank. i think the game is more balanced at its core if it was balanced around open queue.

The problem with open queue is simply that blizzard lacks and has always lacked the knowledge and experience required to balance it properly. Which is why role queue was implemented as the competitive standard.

Tbh i disagree with some takes about the support role. First off all i think the release-supports (Lucio, Mercy, Zen) and Ana are totally fine because their fundamental design makes sense. These heros do have a niche with strengths and weaknesses which makes them unique. The main problems with the DLC-supports post Ana is that there is no real risk-to-reward, no real counterplay and the effort for the value you get isnt that high anymore. -Moira can fade out if she is out of position and has massive AOE-healing, the damage orb does chip dmg and can help building your coal. -Current Brig still has Inspire which isnt visible for the average player, luckily she doesnt have the stun anymore but her health packs do have burst heal now, can stack with inspire and the ability isnt a real projectile (f.e. it cannot be blocked by barriers or eaten by DVAs DM) -Baptiste has 3 health-pools, you cannot counter his lamp because you are FORCED to shoot the drone first and then kill the player (lamp denys your value not matter what you do), his regen-burst now burst heals in the 5v5-format instead of just heal over time -Kiriko has 2 immo abilities, her suzu (which also denys your value) and her TP (which goes through walls and cleanses her) + wall climb + a small hitbox -LW has another immo ability on a cd which denys your value by just pressing 1 button, he cannot miss his heals and he has 225HP (now 275). I like pedal platform tho because its a cool idea for a support to enable your immobile mate to reach highground f.e. -illari is mostly fine but her only issue imo is her pylon because it has infinite uptime and does the job for you. Her beam is single target and thats way better than massive AOE-Heal (i think they should increase the beam range but lower the HP/s tho) I personally dont have an issue with support heros doing high damage but there should be more risk and trade offs for doing high damage. Zen is the best example for a high dmg support imo. The idea of a high damage support with an ability to focus somebody out while having no escape tool (besides your ultimate) and low healing is genius. I do have to admit tho that Zen in the 5v5-format has lost his OG identity as a glass canon because of the snap kick and Discord orb on a solo-tank is too strong but i feel like its a problem thats caused by the 5v5-format and not by the character itself. I think they should remove his snap kick entirely, remove the indirect cooldown to make the character feel fluid/smooth again but reduce the amplification on tanks specifically from 25% to 15% or something. With these changes the character will be more like a glass canon again and still viable. And in general they should remove all role passives imo because i do think 6v6 is better for the game but if Blizzard is unwilling to do it atm, then at least remove all role-passives because they are making balancing even harder for no reason. Some heros will benefit from the passives more than others and the passives cause more issues than they solve (new DPS-passive is a good example) What are your thoughts?

Everything he said about each of these supports is true. I'm a Zen main and snap kick is ridiculous; the main way to punish Zen was with positioning. Discord is objectively terrible to play against as a tank in the new format, where it wasn't really an issue in 6v6. it is also true that some heroes benefit more from the passives than others, which of course would make it more difficult to balance. Name a single thing he said that wasn't 100% accurate.

@@naejimba look at tf2 and its use of its single healer. They are games with practically the same formula, but tf2 is much more successful, why is that? Why does tf2 still have a balanced comp community and Overwatch doesn’t? The medic has low healing with the medigun, and has a slow firing crossbow that doesn’t deal damage either and an Uber that charges over 90ish seconds that supports teammates and doesn’t solo carry. The reason Overwatch’s healing situation fucking sucks is because there are too many healers and the healers do too much outside of their respective roles. When you have two healers, they are bound to just heal each other into oblivion, making them unkillable. A healer is the heart of the team, when you get to them, you should be able to cut off the healing of the team, the team should have to guard the healers with everything they have not the healers guarding themselves and winning every 1v1. Overwatch is currently set up so that dps and tanks really need to give a fuck about their healers, the healers just take care of everything themselves. Healers should just focus on evading conflict, and not winning duels.

It can scale from 40 damage into 70-80 damage depending on range, and the healing also scales depending on range. The medi guns healing isn’t weak, that’s a retarded take. It’s a strong stabilization tool and has moderately good healing. Also… Uber can’t solo carry? In TF2, Uber is the ONLY ultimate ability, meaning that fights in TF2 are WON around whether your medic has Uber or doesn’t. Uber tracking is crucial in 6’s for engagements and duels, and in highlander it gives the team strong leverage. Despite this, Medic is infinitely better designed, better to play and fairer to play against than Mercy. Why? No get out of jail free cards besides Uber, A lot of risks for your rewards, the source movement system and skill expression.

I am not much of a dps player, so I tend to play support but being able to find moments to go "dps mode" makes the role more fun. I don't enjoy Mercy and LW that much as they just feel like I am spectating rather than playing. Especially with the dps passive, I like having the option to well... hit my shots and get rewarded. I am not a hard carry dps player, but having a few support heroes that have the potential if I play well to make big plays is fun.

The way they treat support is so unfair. They don't want support to become a healing role....BUT THATS THEIR ROLE! Every other role MUST perform as its role. Tanks can't 1v5, they have to be tanks. DPS can't make space, they have to DPS. Oh, but criticize support and all hell breaks loose. You guys are healers! Heal!

On a real though, why not introduce a siege like ban system? Each team gets their choice of ban on each role. (Experimentation would be necessary of course) it would fix every problem child that defines the current meta and give the devs an idea of who makes the game very unfun to play around

The problem with the devs is that they listen to feedback from only a tiny portion of the player base, typically the ones who kiss their asses 24/7, and that in turn hurt the game, that combined with the devs just having absolutely zero clue. We saw it in OW1 as well when they didn't know how to balance around the double sniper and bunker comp. They just keep adding to the power creep instead of doing a deep dive into each individual hero in all roles. With OW2, the majority of heroes are still tuned for 6v6, yet they also still keep adding to the power creep, which means a larger portion of the heroes will be rendered useless, like Rein with the current patch for example, where they added 25 armor and 20 more damage to his FS.. Come on.. That doesn't amount to shit in the current patch. Instead, they buffed heroes that had already been buffed, because power creep! I'm starting to think these devs might share one single brain cell at this point..

why remove all these heroes? then you have trash double shield again. just get back to 6v6 with the current hero pool. just freaking do it. it will be instantly better. you wont have goats cause of role q, you wont have double shield cause of orisa rework, ram just punching through it, queen just slashing through it, mauga melting shield and giving the whole team heal. all these "ow2" heroes we got by now were designed for 6v6 and you can clearly tell by just turning on ones brain

So its the same problem as every game since like 2010 at least that has any sort of "competitive scene". They make everyone able to do everything so there's no actual differences between classes or heroes for that matter. Its boring when nothing is unique. MOBAs did this (especially DOTA), Starcraft 2 did this over Brood War, and shooters do this in the name of "fairness and balance".

Rein's Firestrike should be reworked to function more like Ashes Dynamite to allow him to have "more uptime" on his damage vs shielding. Give it a slow too to allow him to close the gap or potentially reposition. A cooldown designed to damage and grant range to a shortranged hero shouldn't do less than or the same as his fucking close range primary. 💀 Also Nerf Discord orb down to 15% but let him have a double charge system similar to how they changed Zarya’s Bubbles. Then he could focus on healing and sustain OR offense while not shitting on the tank specifically. Because he singlehandedly makes Rein, Mauga Hog, (etc.) borderline unplayable. Damage passive should be kept, support players need to shut the fuck up just because DPS can actually threaten them with heroes other than Sojourn, Widow, or Tracer for once. All the DPS passive needs is an indicator and its perfect.

It's not aim, its hitscan and zens only problem is discord making his shots hit like trucks but if you give a character hitscan than they cant have as fleshed out kits, and supports and tanks need the room that having projectiles or close range weps gives them in their kits because no one wants a player who's value comes from their primary in in the supports or tank, because that's a dps thing and this could apply to zen since zen needs his projectiles to be op since he only has discord, so zens a weird case where he has very few moving parts in his kit which force all the value to be in those two things so but if I ever made a hero shooter game, my number 1 rule would be to have no hitscans have movement on par with any projectile heros so no sojourns zipping around hitting rails across the map and no supports landing headshots across the map with a dash that boops like illari since illari is now gonna be a problem and there would especially be no hitscans with infinite movement with an immortality 😂 but this also has been a problem in paladins where they had andro who has always been problematic because hes like a dashing mcree, they even had rework his best talent from 3 individual dashes into a timer that allows you to dash 3 times inna certain duration so it limited his movement so much that he just didnt feel good to play, and than they added vii who can go from 1 side of the map to the other inna few seconds and have all his movement off cool down before he hits the ground and he ofc has hitscan, like hes just vora with hitscan so he was problematic for months and I think this is a fundamental rule they should follow where hitscan cannot have crazy movement and if a hero has crazy movement than they need projectiles like echo or genji, or close range dmg like tracer, and since we dont want supports feeling like ashe with a heal station slapped on them, this would extend to support. So bascially immortalities and being forced to have all your value come from your primary which only ever happens with hitscan for the most part since you cant really nerf hirscan the same way as projectile since they dont have travel time and with these two philosophies i think they could easily make banger support after banger support, and than its just small issues like not giving weaver enough difference in his kit, bascially his only problem is everything in his kit does the same thing and they even admit this as his problem, honestly they just need better support philosophy all around, they need to stop taking paladins gameplay fuctions and start stealing their support designs 😂 but they scrapped space rangers smg which i hope thats because after the nightmare that was sojourn they finally realised high mobility and hitscan dont match and will finally make another amazing support design.

what you said doesn't even make sense. regardless of how similar heroes are, there is almost 40 heroes that need to be balanced independently of each other. if anything, making heroes similar/have the same niche makes them harder to balance because one will always be a better version of the other.

"there is almost 40 heroes that need to be balanced independently of each other." first - the balance IS NOT independently because multiple heroes work simultaneously on a match. second fighting games have this EXACT same problem and they manage to do it. No perfectly of course , no balance will ever be perfect but it is doable tekken 7 had 50 heroes, each one of them with more than 100 movements. Mk11 had 37, SF5 45 (im not using Tekken 8, Mk1 and SF6 because these games are band new, less than 1 year old so of course they are not balanced). Keep talking about how hard it is to balance 40 heroes in overwatch please, im dying to hear your baby cries. again you have NO IDEA what you're talking about.

It’s not hard to flank in OW2… why should one support always die to one dps that makes no sense at all. No one would ever play the role. It’s not like it was difficult for a Tracer, Genji, Reaper, Sombra to get in the back line to target you.

I know you don’t read these but you’re completely wrong. Devs base this game on what people want. In OW1 NO ONE WANTED TO PLAY AS TANK! So they removed a whole role because the PLAYERS didn’t want to play tanks! Que times in ALL RANKS has always been long ago n DPS people WANT to play DPS. Not acknowledging what people’s actions are even if they cry online is grounds for you don’t know what you’re talking about. You may have an idea for what YOU want or what YOU think is good for the game. But people want other things

Only at the end of ow1's life were tank queues crazy long. People did want to play dps more in ow1, but look at what's happened to supp queue times. They're longer than the DPS queue times at nearly all ranks. Did people suddenly get altruistic and want to support their teammates more? Hardly, they just want to be powerful and to play new heroes. You're only looking at symptoms and not causes and if you balance a game around appearances, you'll end up with what we've got now

if no one wants to play tank, then the solution is to make better designed/more tanks. not to remove a tank. no one wants to play heroes like sig/orisa that sit behind shields and hold left click all day. make more engaging heroes like ball or queen. 5v5 is such a lazy solution to such a simple problem and the devs have a pattern of fundamentally changing the game instead of just fixing a character (brig and role queue).

@@ZarelidT After last patch they're pretty much the same because DPS got stronger, next season when they get a new hero it will be even longer. If they buff supp and add a new supp hero, supp queues will be longer. See a pattern?
