​@@sloth9853 because they have to do blood chemistry on the fly and make sure the blood doesn't clot in the machine. Its actually really involved. My daughter was on bypass for a surgery as a baby they had to give a whole risks presentation so we could give informed consent. Its more than just flipping a switch

I went to trade school for welding and I’m making $90k this year but once I sign with this company I already have in line my pay will go up to $110k. I’m only 21 with no student debt 😂.

My son is in welding school right now. He had to wait for the program a year after high school. The school could not find a welding instructor. I made sure he held his spot until they found an instructor. Great job, young man.

I think his point is something like. Perfusionist is great and all. Unsung career indeed. But school debt is a MASSIVE killer. And hard to justify when there are alternates like welding. I'm going through school now to become a midlevel medical provider, and I'm using my CDL license to pay for it because I already make 60k without debt

I know a guy who sold those machines she works. He made anywhere between $80K and $110K commission on each one he sold. He’s been selling them for over 30 years.

Lol my chiropractor has helped me so much, so much more than my regular doctor has. They literally take same basic classes that they have in medical school as a foundation. Do some real research and keep an open mind

yes, the people (along with PT's) that actually address the root of musculoskeletal and biomechanical problems are the overpaid ones, totally not the doctors who just prescribe pain killers, which 1. dont fix the problem at all and 2. created the opioid crisis as a result of this, the largest drug epidemic america has ever seen

The machine is was allows you to live during open heart surgery. It’s not an off/switch, but an entire system that you have to learn how to set up and trouble shoot if an emergency happens. Not to mention managing blood homeostasis regarding ph and electrolytes along with giving drugs to the patient through the machine. It’s a complex job that perfusionists often simplify because it’s easier than explaining to people everything that they do

@sloth alright, you’re obviously joking. The cost to pay the perfusionist is the least of your financial worries when looking at the overall cost of heart surgery. Also, what information did you look up that makes you think it’s so “easy” to do. Can you tell me what exactly it is they do ?
